Yeah. At least a handful of jets produce less noise than Q400s. C-Series is one. Would have to see about Max and NEOs - they didn't exist in the wild when the preliminary pro-expansion noise studies were done.

It is worth noting that without a dedicated corridor, the current alignment will get less and less reliable, and consequently, slower. And until we have the document dump, we don't know how many curves they're thinking of taking out while they do the other work.

Once again: the project does not need to be named in the budget. The CIB is already funded.

The lobbyist registry is public - so who are these people and we can see who they are meeting with.

    Condo-sized/compact washer/dryer options

Loved ventless - putting in a load to go overnight and in the morning it is dry! If you don't have A/C it is pretty hard to get things like towels as dry as you'd be used to with vented models. For most items when I had the ventless, I'd hang them to ensure they dried fully. If I was 100% on...

Ultra Light Rail Claims Lower Risk and Lower Cost than Traditional Light Rail

I never thought of suing the TTC for getting caught in a streetcar track. Heard of a success with that?

Ultra Light Rail Claims Lower Risk and Lower Cost than Traditional Light Rail

Why is this any better than a run of the mill electric bus?

None except for the vice they held in city council in the past.

Should be in the technical parts of the JPO reports whenever they're developed. Whether we get a technical answer, or just a summary, who knows.

I'd imagine the second - why bother with the expense? Underground adding volume to station boxes in ruinous. It isn't uncommon around the world. I was surprised witnessing it in Kyoto, but it seemed to work just fine. Only issue is displacing a frequency on the REM.

Scenario 3) HFR isn't ready, and the government indicates again it views the project favourably. Scenario 4) HFR doesn't need funding in the budget and proceeds on its own timeline. Like I get that this forum is all hot and bothered about the project being in the budget, but for reasons...

Raising money - I'm assuming investments or investment commitments. Once they get to a certain ratio, they can go for debt for the rest. It is a weird concept, but given the transportation investments in close proximity, they should be able to either capture a few events that go to the ACC...

All the pessimism on here. I think unless the JPO study shows a huge environmental or Indigenous rights problem, or the cost estimate comes back at way more than $1 billion capital subsidy wise, I think no matter who is in government that the project goes forward. It is a project that the...

And probably a cheaper way to establish all day service to Peterborough than trying to force a Go-Line there, a perennial Conservative promise.

Cost benefit analysis comes in again. It can cost more to spend less.

Can bury a whole fleet replacement for the long distance trains into an efficiency package once CN and CP have decided a direction for net-zero performance. You can pay for a lot of equipment from operating funds when your alternative is $170 a tonne of GHG charges.

IIRC Siemens urban transit has been delivering 100% wraps or decals on white for a while now in north america. Wouldn't be surprised to see the same on their other products.

What's with the boxy infill houses?

With the right zoning, houses that are too big to remain viable will eventually be broken into apartments just like in old Toronto. As you note, this is a yellow belt problem, not a build form problem for most of us. And yeah - by not compatible with the climate, do you mean flat roofs? Who cares.

What's with the boxy infill houses?

Neighbourhoods are not museums to the feel of a neighbourhood at a certain point in time. Houses of a certain time were largely dictated by materials available and optimization to utilize those materials economically. Why should we be bound to those optimizations forever? If the city does not...
