Toronto Union Subway Station: Second Platform and Concourse Improvements | ?m | ?s | TTC | IBI Group

Yes. Anyone coming from the Downsview-bound platform will need to go up to the concourse and down again.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The space that the Eglinton platform will be extended north into is currently a third "pocket" subway track, used to store or turn around trains just north of the station. When the ECLRT is built, the pocket track will be removed and the space converted into subway platform. Unfortunately...

    TTC: Redesigning TTC Signage

Just a guess but it might only apply to building permits issued after the effective date of the updated Code. Union reno would predate the Code update.

Unlikely. They will probably be kept for fire separation purposes. Maybe they will be changed to be the type of door that is kept propped open most of the time and automatically closed if the fire alarm goes off.

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

The Works at Jones and Danforth is out of business. Last day was July 19. Guess they couldn't compete with Square Boy across the street.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

They could easily cordon off an unloading area on the Spadina Station streetcar platform and have a collector posted there, exactly the same as the arrangement at Union Station for the streetcars during the summer. Sure, some people will get free rides if they are only going between destinations...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Yes. If they do a fare inspection on 501 Queen and you don't have Proof of Payment, such as a valid transfer, you may be given a ticket. While admittedly it has been a rare occurrence in recent years to see anyone checking fares, TTC will be hiring quite a few new transit enforcement officers to...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

It's just bad wording on that page. The 1 adult with 5 youths/kids scenario is permitted. Refer to: http://www.ttc.ca/Fares_and_passes/Passes/Day_Pass/index.jsp

    Fish & Chips!

I love the cajun batter they offer at Off the Hook plus the great variety of dipping sauces. It's basically ruined every other fish and chips place for me.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

There's also the option of going up to the west concourse from the inactive Sheppard Line platform and back down to the active Sheppard platform. Just as circuitous but less crowded.

TTC CLRV Streetcars: Where will they go once they are retired?

No, again. There was no official mandate that required transit agencies to move to entirely low floor buses, or even to accessible high floor buses, by 2012. That was the last year that you could legally build a transit vehicle that didn't comply with the AODA standards. Having said that...

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

Renos too. Loblaws is wrapping up renovations of the St Clair/Bathurst store to turn it into a MLG-style store, complete with wall of cheese.

TTC CLRV Streetcars: Where will they go once they are retired?

No. The AODA aims to have Ontario accessible by 2025. There is nothing in the AODA or the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) that requires the TTC or any other Ontario transit agency to retire all inaccessible vehicles by 2018. It is against the regulation to purchase any new...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Great map. One small change I would make is to put the line number circles at both ends of each line, rather than one circle arbitrarily somewhere along the line. It would make distinguishing the long lines easier.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Using local transit from Bronte, this will turn a 45 minute train ride into a 2 to 2.5 hour odyssey via Oakville Transit, MiWay and then GO from Square 1, assuming the transfers work out, that is. Here's an example from Google Maps.

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

They are replacing all of the terribly dated 80's floor tile in the atrium area. Not sure if the flooring in the first floor of the library (same as the atrium flooring) will be replaced as well.

    TTC Cartography, Signage, and Wayfinding

A preliminary version of the new wayfinding standards were presented to the TTC's ACAT committee back in May: http://ttc.ca/About_the_TTC/ACAT_Reports_and_Information/Meeting_and_reports/2013/April_25_Meeting_264.jsp#8 Lots of interesting details about how the signage may look like. It sounds...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

The subway lines have been numbered for over a decade. If you recall, when the 4 Sheppard Subway opened in 2002, the TTC renumbered the 4 Annette bus route to 26 Dupont to free up the number. The numbers were mainly used internally, but are currently shown in certain places, like here...
