Not that I disagree at all lol

I agree - honestly I think this rendering is just much more true to the previously filed SPA (via the development portal): South side: East side: You can pretty clearly see the cladding change on the point here in addition to balconies running quite high on the east and south sides.

Based on the materials cited in the SPA the entire residential tower is to be terracotta paneled curtain wall with punched windows too - seems pretty promising!

Pretty wild how long it's taking to finish up the detailing here. The black inset metal trim is going to really elevate this building (though it's already pretty great!) - let's hope it didn't get cut from the plan

    John Street Revitalization

While this topic is bumped has there been anymore word of how things are going (read: how delayed things are here)? The city's website is not updated and the last document posted is from May 2018.

I think it's also easy to ignore the working realities that come in trying to use older stately heritage buildings like this in a modern context. By all accounts the inside of this building is nothing to write home about (at best) and the proposal will at least serve to open up and integrate the...

From Tridel's construction cam. Looks like they're getting ready to pour or form the canted columns on the southwest building?

Any chance they're revisiting the initial plans for a tower here? Not sure if any of the new provincial legislation + an Ontario Line stop would influence any potential rezoning provisions.

Street level would be much better if they just continued the brick down to the ground level :(

Agreed! I often feel like the crown/mechanical penthouse is neglected on all but the more prominent commercial developments. I was pleasantly surprised to see 10 York and Massey Tower getting interesting (and tasteful I think) lighting features. Is the city generally against such features or...

I'm pretty sure there's another canopy crane located behind building A where I've drawn the blue arrow as well. It's been there a bit longer than the other one being discussed IIRC

From the architectural plans filed in December it looks like they're going for some sort of dissolving pattern as the metal panels make their way up as well. I'm cautiously optimistic :)

Hmmm, my bet is on Gusto 54 Restaurant Group though I'm not sure they'd have the financial standing to pull something like that off. Other than that maybe Terroni or Overbudget Inc.? So many options! 🤔

LMAO I spoke too soon and played myself (from here). Though Sweat and Tonic is a cool tenant and I'm happy to see the top floor restaurant has been leased! I wonder who ' one of Canada's leading hospitality companies' is in this context? Seems they leased several spaces at once and will...

I am stupidly excited to see what the tenant makeup is going to be here. Very happy to see many of the restaurant spaces on Wellington being leased and even moreso that there are discussions with someone to take over the event space! I think RioCan and Allied are hyper conscious of curating a...

I walked by this weekend too and the only difference I could notice was that above this particular window (ground floor most northern window on the western face of the building) they have actually added the metal accent that fills in the channels between the precast brick. Hopefully my eyes...

For this particular development you have the benefit of the lot being owned by a REIT which discloses its development timelines much more publicly than a traditional developer: You can see from the above that while zoning is in place no completion is anticipated for at least the next 3 or 4...
