Why do we need our filters replaced when the furnaces haven't been used for even a year yet? And cold temperature alarms?? Aren't those programmed to dial your # or something?

The constant squeaking from my bathroom ceiling vent when it's windy outside is so annoying.

Yeah, mine is the same as that, I thought you meant the trim piece separating the tiles from the laminate.

I haven't turned my space heater on yet. Went into the room yesterday to take a look around and yeah, the space heater cord disppears into the drywall. Other then the back of the furnance venting to the outside, the room seems pretty insulated.

Yep, twice is the last couple of days and at least once earlier in the week. Keep waking up to my oven light blinking.

Ah, maybe it was just the water heater I was thinking of then. Kind of odd, what happens if the space heater stops working...

Really? I could have sworn it was just plugged into the outlet in there and tied down... blah.

Maybe the water line can just be insulated better? The closest should be pretty warm if the furnace is running consistently, although I haven't had to run the heat very long. I noticed once I set it to a certain temperature, it takes a long time for it to go back down again, since it is a small...

Nobody came to turn off mine, noticed it going at full blast in May as well. Might want to check around the dryhall near your vents as well. The drywall beside the vent in my bedroom has a big soft spot developing. Noticed it yesterday when I turned on the heat to feel the heat under my...

That outlet thermostat is definitely a good idea or you could replace that heater with another one, it's pretty much the same price. Two board members have replied on here recently, maybe they can get something posted. I think the main lobby needs an actual glass board for postings by the...

I did, which is why I am educating you. I think you are missing the point here. Nobody is complaining about the hot water heater and the gas bill, it's the space heater to heat that closet area to keep it warm enough so that the pipes do not freeze. It's the resulting electricity bill that I...

Might want to read your condo documentation if you think you own the balcony.

The furnance/water heater are located on the common elements, the balcony is essentially not part of our unit. So it's actually the home owners responsibility in this case to help protect the common elements by preventing their water pipes from freezing by increasing their own electricity bill...

Don't know about you, but I don't think everyone wants the inconvienance of having to walk out onto their balcony on a consistent basis in the winter to unlock their closet door to have to turn the thing off and on manually.

It just looked like a regular cheapo space heater the last time I looked at it. All I remember seeing is the dial on it, that's it. It didn't look advanced enough to determine the temperature to shut off when there is adequate heat. Speaking of heat, is the building heat turned on yet? Felt...
