    Transit Fantasy Maps

TO_penguin My only complaint is that Kipling seems like a silly place for an RT line - it's a lot more needed on Jane. (or if you insist on Etobicoke, at least choose Islington, it's busier)

University Avenue (History and Future Redesign)

I'm kind of torn on Wylie's proposal. The center median makes the street prettier for the drivers, and overall more asthetically pleasing. Moving it to the side makes it much more likely to be used by pedestrians.

    Highway 427: Highway or Homes

I like that 427 alignment. Not sure the connector is justifiable though.

I'm not sure whether I should be proud or ashamed of this, but I used Paint.

The other thing I wanted to note - I didn't pay attention to the TTC's "Priority Neighbourhoods" when doing this - just two maps. One indicated residential density, the other showed an array of dots, each one representing 100 jobs in that location (like a job density map). I tried to cover all...

I remember that the original proposed reason for the Sheppard line was to give another way in/out of Scarborough. I thought by doing this combination of BD and Sheppard, I made it even easier - you don't need to transfer. Also, the shorter the line, the higher the overhead. I realize that long...

Here's my first attempt at one.

    Corktown

Ashby Place is... numbered sequentially. (odd and even on same side) Weird. Are there any other examples of that in Toronto?

That's hilarious, you named a subway stop after my tiny suburban street, which has a grand total of about 30 houses on it.

The only wierd thing about the comparison of her plan to any other map is the removal of Vaughan Corporate Center. I wonder if that was intentional.

    Brantford Colborne Point | ?m | ?s | Vrancor Development

I grew up in Brantford and I thought the same thing when I first started reading the thread... however the more I read all the posts and the more I thought of other successful heritage downtowns, the more I swing far in the other direction! I used to think that there just wasn't the money in...

    Highway 427: Highway or Homes

Anything happen with the subdivision proposal?

    Early Etobicoke

The wikipedia article on Weston said that there used to be a part of Weston on the West side of the Humber, but it was damaged in a storm and abandoned. Not sure the source of that claim.

I agree with the wooden telephone posts. Are these really necessary in this day and age??? They just get in the way. Some parts of Yonge (esp. near St. Clair comes to mind) are so choked with 'patios' taking up sidewalk and 30 million poles for this that and the other thing that there's no room...

lawyer fees for purchase of resale condo

Don't expect to find out the real final figure until much later. Lawyers are allowed to be sneaky for some reason. No other business could get away with doing things the way they do.

    Church-Wellesley Village

They were always nice to me, but I have heard lots of horror stories, so you are not alone.

    Dead end for a square?

IMHO, the angle at Yonge and Finch is not noticable simply because everything is set so far back and the streets are so wide.

    Dead end for a square?

I see what you're saying, but I don't think 11 degrees makes a big difference. 45 makes a difference, look at Weston and Lawrence or Weston and Jane.

University Avenue (History and Future Redesign)

...but I love that median for my urban mountain biking. :) Seriously, it's one of the spots I like to hit. Stairs, curbs, interesting obstacles to avoid in some areas, bases of monuments to jump, and during the winter, a drained fountain to jump in and out of. I know, I know, that's not what...
