    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

You've missed Bloor in there, so that would be six. The streetcar connections from the GO stations will be awkward because they're street level connections. You cannot have streetcar stops in the middle of the underpass beneath the GO lines, so customers who are transferring will have to walk...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

I'm not sure which five you're referring to, but Bloor and Mt Dennis will have higher order transit connections. Liberty Village and St Clair will have awkward connections to streetcar lines, if that counts. Weston and Etobicoke North connect to buses (barely).

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

One of those ends is the UPX corridor, so maybe a little disingenuous to call it useless. And as much as I think Brampton desperately needs more service, that corridor could have a lot of value to Toronto riders even without service past Malton.

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

I mean, as long as the Liberals are the governing party, Metrolinx is sort of by definition in the business of facilitating the promises they make. But I take your point that they're not (or at least shouldn't be) there to create opportunities for the governing party to take advantage for...

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

Which is fine, as long as that stays on schedule it's not too far away. I'm much more concerned that even once they're dispatching their own trains, CN won't let them into Bramalea and that stops them from improving service. And at this point, I don't know why they wouldn't just say that they're...

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

Agreed, though I think the Lakeshore line name is excellent. Descriptive and inclusive. The other five could stand to be renamed. What I found frustrating is that they're not clear on what they're even trying to accomplish with regard to incremental improvements with CN. Are they dead set on...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

In a world where Kipling doesn't exist, then sure, spend the money on a Bloor stop on a theoretical future Milton RER line. But Kipling does exist (and it's a pretty decent interchange) and we don't have unlimited money for stations and stops. The money could be far better spent elsewhere on a...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

It's pretty standard with those international systems that not all lines stop at all stations. They need to balance connectivity with services that are fast enough to be worth using. It's the same reason Metrolinx spiked the idea of a St Clair station on the Barrie line. My ideal GO network...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The existing planned RER lines won't be complete until 2025. For Milton to be added to that list, they need to negotiate a deal with CP which would likely require building the "missing link" bypass. You think they'll have that done and have sufficiently upgraded the corridor to run 15 minute...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

If Kipling is ever a choke point as a terminal station, we have much bigger problems to worry about. And there's no way RER on the Milton line is in place by the time the ATC resignalling begins on Line 2. Adding a stop at Bloor would ultimately save a handful of people a few minutes, while...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The planned extension of the Bloor platforms south as a part of the 2280 Dundas redevelopment *might* make for the possibility of including a Milton platform south of the existing station which would very awkwardly connect. But it would be expensive and awkward for a station that likely isn't...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I'm referring specifically to people on this forum. There are plenty of people not on here for whom electrification is far more important than actual service, for a variety of reasons.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

For sure! I think, for example, if Metrolinx announced tomorrow that they were delaying electrification on the Kitchener line by 5 years, but they were launching 7 days/week, hourly service to Mount Pleasant and 30 minute service to Bramalea in May most people here would see that as a net...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Plus Pearson, which though not directly on the corridor, is accessed by it. And in a few years you can add Mount Dennis there too. And yes, it was not intended as a commuter service, but I didn't say that it was. There is no question that the GTS infrastructure has been woefully under-utilized...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

It's definitely not, officially. But I think if you implement all that infrastructure, it would be hard to not increase service to match as soon as it's ready to go. I certainly think it would make for a lot more difficult questions. Also, worth noting that those billions resulted in fifteen...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I think, for a lot of people on here, electrification is more than just the ability to run electric trains, it's also the inherent service promise that comes with it. Metrolinx isn't going to spend billions of dollars on double-tracking and stringing catenary, and then continue to run only...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

You might need 14 trains to service the extension, but that's north and southbound. When you're launching service in the morning, you're only sending trains southbound, so 14 trains will help you get service going south of Finch too.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

The Conlins facility was planned as a part of the Sheppard East LRT. As of right now, the planned Crosstown East ends south of the 401, and the land is on the north side at Sheppard. In order to actually build the facility, they'd have to run the line across the 401, and between that and the...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Two of those three Crosstown "storage" tracks are above ground. Fine for a train that's waiting to be turned back, but I don't think they're likely to be parking trains overnight in the middle of the road. It'll be even worse when (if?) they build the Crosstown East and trains have to run all...

Dundas St Rapid Transit (Metrolinx, Mississauga, Halton Region, CoT)

I don't think either will happen anytime soon, so it's a moot point either way.
