That's why I said the conversation is going nowhere, it moved so incredibly far from what this thread is about. Hey if you want to discuss the excitement of the city, it's zoning bylaws, it's culture, etc, I am all for a discussion. I just feel we were hijacking this thread to have it, and it...

    Cherry Street Nightclub

Sorry I should have clarified, I was talking in general about those old industrial areas that are a bit more far out of the city like north Etobicoke and such that are hard to get to. Castlefield district though would be a perfect location given its more or less central location, and the actual...

I agree those areas should be redeveloped, and clubs would make a perfect fit. My only concern would be that you said there is lots of parking, and public transit to those areas is usually horrible, so this might promote drunken driving.

Never been to Bangkok so can't really comment on there. As for the suburb in Tokyo, that is a great piece of logic, one suburb of the 9000 sq feet of Tokyo has a strict noise regulation bylaw,so that must be a good representation of all of Tokyo right? Also clearly you have not lived in Japan...

Most of those proposed changes were aimed and quieting traffic, which falls inline a lot with how Paris is actually designed. Beside the world isn't compromosed of only white cities. Europe and North America aren't the end all of major cities in the world. Try a day in Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, or...

Ok, ignore critically acclaimed restaurants with strict criteria. And FYI Tokyo has the most Michelin starred restaurants in the world, and that is an exciting city. Plus that was not the only thing on the list.

You are correct I got cosmopolitan and metropolitan mixed up. Toronto is the most cosmopolitan city in the world.

Of course Toronto is the most diverse city, and it's amazing at that. There are a lot of pros to Toronto, which is why I called it the best city in North America. But I am not defining Cosmopolitan by diversity of people alone. I am also defining it by density of population, diversity of...

Lol thanks for picking on the semantics. I agreed that the expansion to the current club is probably not the best tbing for Toronto.

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Ok great, thanks for the heads up.

The proof is this: no michillen starred restaurants. The food in general is largely bland and unnuanced. The only nightlife consists of clubs and bars, there are no night-markets, arcades, last movies of the night are usually around 11-12, etc. Many areas are zoned just for housing and you can...

I didn't say immigrants hate it here. There is actually a lot of good to Toronto. It's just many people find it boring. Also I already stated in this forum that the club is probably not the best thing for Toronto, I just feel the outright rejection by people is symptomatic of the nimbyism that...

2018 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

Are there threads or can we make them discussing each councillor choice for each ward? I'd like to get involved this year, or atleast vote for a candidate that shares similar viewpoints. But also discussing specific ward councillor choices on this site would also be great.

    Cherry Street Nightclub

I have lived in Toronto all my life, except the years I lived in other countries. I have lived all over the city and the parts we consider happening and cool are quite boring in all honesty when compared to other cities around the world. Granted there are some parts that stay up late by a...

Ridiculous comments and claims made by City Councillors

You are right the growth of the city from 2011-2016 is 20,000 a year. Most people when they quote this number are going off the GTA population rise predictions given by the government of Ontario shown here: by http://www.fin.gov.on.ca/en/economy/demographics/projections/#s2 Anyways even...

Ridiculous comments and claims made by City Councillors

It's possible we may not need to deamalgamate. Although it would be helpful in pushing urban issues through, it is possible that through consistent change in the core it can slowly overtake the more suburban areas and make them urban. Look at Tokyo, the city has a total of near 9,000 sq feet...

Ridiculous comments and claims made by City Councillors

That is true, the city is very different from end to end. But do you think that the design of certain areas like Etobicoke, Scarborough and low density areas throughout the city (there are many), are beneficial to the city as a whole? This isn't a rhetorical question, I'm legitimately interested...

Ridiculous comments and claims made by City Councillors

Lol I remember once I was walking to some park near downsview and the sidewalk had big chunks of concrete missing that were later seen on the grass beside the sidewalk. Literally looked like someone had bombed the sidewalks. But you are right, too many councillors believe in that small town...

Ridiculous comments and claims made by City Councillors

I agree. To me the lack of pedestrian friendly areas in Toronto has made no sense. Perhaps in the past when there was less people, the suburban design was ok because there was less traffic. Now though it's so arduous to get anywhere, and walking is not an option in many areas; especially in the...

    Cherry Street Nightclub

Ok I grant you this, this particular topic is a bad place to make that point even for me, since I absolutely abhore going to clubs; and if this clubs gets built or not makes little difference in my life. But there are two points I'm trying to make from this. The first is the world's biggest...
