Seems to me that people have differing standards of what constitutes creature comforts - most of the guys who have lived in trailers parked on Unwin and elsewhere in the Portlands seemed to me to be pretty happy to have their little hidey-holes on wheels.

QA's shining white bulk and staggered profile will look striking from a certain distance. But the closer you get to that cladding, the clumsier it looks.

I expect these two developments will deffo drive up local foot traffic and help incite new businesses along the strip. Should be a good economic shot in the arm for the area overall.

Fantastic series of photos. Drove through the Portlands for the first time a few days ago. The bridges are great. Having Cherry re-aligned and being able to boost east along Commish again... very cool. Can't wait to see the area blossom over the next few months and years.

You'd be surprised, then. I've known of carps and grips who live we;; outside of the GTA who have parked trailers/motorhomes on Basin Street so that they'd not have to commute during a production contract - cheap living, rent-free. Not for everyone, natch, and this kind of thing is going to go...

We try to go down to the boardwalk once or twice a week, just to get the blood going. I love the impressive massing and distinctive angularity of this project - feels very dramatic for the immediate area's relative flatness - but I'm still feeling let down by the cladding's irregularities.

I've been inside and it is indeed a butchered mess. But that grand, sweeping exterior! Breathtaking. Alas, I don't care for the two towers spearing it in so indelicate a manner.

Absolutely... the secretive, inward-facing courtyard which screams exclusivity.... yes, it's a bunker mentality. Love that term, "loneliness factories." But the density is right and folks there will have immediate access to the park which comes alive with music and festivals in the summer, plus...

That roofline is way cool... nice project. You had me going with the term "Riverdale." Here I thought it was a short stroll away!
