They've started installing the first floor of curtain wall cladding on the east side of the curve.

that's an awesome shot, it seems as though your location is about equidistant between scotia and aura,(little closer to aura) which allows us to get an idea of how much further there is to go since both those buildings are about the same height.

I think they should have just had white balconies without cladding stripes on the south east and west sides, those sides look busy because they put double stripes, once with the cladding and another time with the balconies. North side looks amazing though.

Aura has definitely nudged past the 200m mark. I think it's closer to 210m and appears to be 65 stories now.(it's hard to figure out since I'm not sure if the 56th floor terrace is actually the 57th floor due to no 13th floor, I'm assuming 56th is actually 57th)

I always chuckle when I see this thread still open and busy...it's like a metaphor for all of Toronto since the mid 90s, nothing big ever gets done. coming up on 6 years since construction started. I updated the wikipedia page so everyone can see that the project is a lame turd and according to...

let's just hope the materials are shoddy enough that a reclad comes sooner than later. FCP took 25 years, hopefully Aura's comes in 15. We now know that blue and dark grey do not go well together, it's a shame it took a 78 story monstrosity to figure that out.

It's kind of sad that the two tall buildings we got from this boom so far are embarassing. People have been talking about hiding Trump behind INDX and BA East, this building also needs to be hidden, but not as much as it's ugly runt brothers.

If these boxes with hats on top become Toronto's signature style of architecture I'm leaving for good. After spending the last 4 years in university and coming back for a year, the mediocrity and short-sightedness of Toronto really wears you down quick.

if only we could get the media to start referring to it that way. I doubt Trump would ever stay in this building, it's still got plywood in a bunch of prominent locations. We need to pressure the city to sue over the missing light feature. there's a case there for sure.

I wonder if tourists look up at it and wonder, "what's trum?" They probably think its another Canadian bank.

I wonder if in a few years when all the glass buildings in southcore are finished, it might create some sort of magnifying glass effect, like the ray of death in las vegas.

it's funny how far the cladding is from the render. the render shows reflective glass throughout, not black windows and off grey spandrel. This condo is a massive fail. The only thing I could imagine redeeming it is if they absolutely covered it in plants or small trees.

lol, redwoods take hundreds of years and a rainforest climate to become the world's tallest trees. May as well plant white pines they'd probably grow bigger and in a shorter time frame, plus they're ontario's official tree.

I'm not sure that steel goes up faster, I've heard arguments that say RC is faster. I could see steel being faster in teh winter since RC might need heating to dry it out. also it is said that steel framing is prefered in office buildings because it is more economical than RC in super long...

I find this forum a lot more user friendly and better / more picture updates. It's a lot easier to find the thread Ur looking for on ut, plus u get a link to the database project in the thread itself

I count 17 towers in southcore in that pic but only 8 unique designs. it's the city of twin towers and lazy design.
