    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I hate to bust your bubble, There will never be a freeway portion of Highway 7 between Peterborough and Carlton Place. The terrain would likely make it the most expensive freeway ever built. You may see something eventually similar to Highway 17 between Petawawa and Mattawa, with lots of...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Incorrect. There has been litigation in the past. It's also much easier for someone to lose control going 130 on a highway designed for 130, than going 100 on a highway designed for 130. Highway's are also designed for ideal dry conditions. Not so much for rain, snow. There is "Driving...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Ok, then when does it stop? Highway Engineers and MTO over design roads for a reason. Believe it or not it's a liability issue. We can't have people going 10km/h over the limit and getting in accidents? I'd support a move up to 110. But anything higher means we need stricter speed limit...

Canadian Soccer Association to bid for 2026 World Cup

Why, So 60,000 people who got free tickets because their company bought them can sit on their hands or play with their cell phones at the same place? Most people in Toronto like yourself know NOTHING about football. They bet on the NFL because the likes of a few teams year after year have...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

Wow. It's funny see sometimes squabbling over details without doing research regarding expansion for Grey Cups. 97th Grey Cup (Calgary) - Added 13000 to capacity in one endzone (U shaped because of admin building.) 92nd Grey Cup (Ottawa) - Added over 20,000 temp seats in endzones. 91st...

Plans to fill in Allen Road

I've always though a tunnel eastbound eglinton going to northbound on the Allen would releave some congestion. Difficult to do because of subway.

Roads: Increase Ontario 400-series Highway Speed Limit

you'd have to increase Transport speed as well. Not that I'm opposed to it. But the amount of times a line of cars going 140 have to come to a screeching halt (well not halt, but to 100) because a transport saw an opening just smaller than his transport truck is ridiculous. I drive from...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

An underground, or complete ROW for the Eglinton LRT would act as a mini subway. I'd liken it to parts of the Edmonton or Calgary system. It would bring people in. As soon as they put it on the roads/in the middle of the roads. That's where they will lose out on ridership. I honestly...

    F-35 Fighter Jet Purchase

We are as well. While also replacing 30 year old jets. Of course we could just buy used. Since the Liberals did such a good job buying those Sub's from UK.

    F-35 Fighter Jet Purchase

I was making a point for investing in Arctic bases to assert our sovereignty there, not saying the jets would stop anything. But as it seems, we would much rather watch as we lose territory up north. We are already well behind the Russians thanks to years of Liberal inaction.

    F-35 Fighter Jet Purchase

Disagree with the above article. Despite all the negativity around the Jets, they are needed. And we need to invest much more in the Arctic or we'll lose it. There is currently 3 or 4 land claims now right on what we consider Canadian Soil, by Russia, U.S. and Denmark.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Last time I drove from Vic Park to Don Mills Subway station, there was was 5 lights? Unless you are talking about the proposed LRT? I knew it was going under the 404 but can't remember where it was coming up.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Says a guy from Oakville/Milton? As I alluded to before, 20,000 people already work in the consumers road block. Census roughly tells me that the area around this proposed expansion houses 100,000 people, although this is a large area, (as far east a Kennedy, North to Finch) you can still...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I thought that's what the plan states. Subway exit at Consumers Road? As per http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/compromise-would-bring-leg-of-eglinton-lrt-back-to-street-level/article2313981/

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

This is a pretty narrow minded point of view. The Consumers Road block businesses employ over 20,000 people. That's not including the new residential that's being build or anybody to the north of Sheppard of east of Vic Park. It's probably be the best value and usage for a minor...

If Toronto Ever Gets the Olympics, What Woult It Mean for the Transport System?

I don't think your seeing the whole picture with that area. in 5 KM from Brock, Traffic goes from a 6 lane express/collector system to 3 lanes. Just before where the 407 West Durham Link is going to go. People who still drive to work anywhere downtown Toronto are not going to take the 404...

If Toronto Ever Gets the Olympics, What Woult It Mean for the Transport System?

I'm not sure if the plans are related, or if it would go under the same project for the 407. Though that area they are shifting 401 between Brock Road and Brock Steet to the north and plans call for the express/collector system to run though there with 12 lanes. Nothing futher east than Brock...

    Islington Subway Station

It's probably because you see the LRT as an upgraded streetcar. Most, if not all of Toronto's Eglinton LRT system will be a decidated line with no car traffic interference. This section will more act as a smaller subway system.
