Waterfront: Jarvis Slip Public Space Design Competition

I don't like west8's proposal as it involves draining the water from the slip - exposing the plywood underneath.

New Orion VII config (Woke up this morning, walked to the bus stop and...)

My car is in the shop, so decided to take transit for a couple of days. I seriously hate this layout - if it's similar to the 'newer' Dufferin buses. Capacity wise, absolutely horrendous. Talk about feeling like a sardine in a tin can. Absolutely no one ever stands at the back, past the...

    Toronto First Canadian Place Rejuvenation | 298.08m | 72s | Brookfield | MdeAS Architects

Not so much of an extension is needed - but some consolidation. Right now it looks like a pair of ol' rabbit ears were plopped on top. Absolutely no sense of style for what they portray to be a signature building.

    Fun in the Sun

I can vouch for Puerta Vallarta as well. Was there a year ago - stayed at the Barcello resort (La Jolla de Mismaloya) which is about a 10mins taxi ride into town. + Puerta Vallarta has a more authentic mexican city/town feel then sterile Cancun + For some reason I preferred the night-life...

    Toronto Corus Quay | ?m | 8s | Waterfront Toronto | Diamond Schmitt

I don't understand. If the city is writing the check, don't they have a sway in regards to design. This smells of incompetence and indifference.

    294 Richmond E @ Sherbourne (TLS, 6s, Sweeny &Co.) COMPLETE

Doesn't the structure seems kind of fragile for a high-rise? How good is that hollow concrete floor as a sound insulator...

    Liberty Village Update (Sept 30)

Battery Park is hideous. Sticks out like a sore box ...err thumb.

West Queen West / A&D District

Finnaly! The car wash and 1-story plaza with that dumpy donut shop will be history. Wow, that area going to look drastically different in a few years time. That area was due for a huge transformation; miss living there since I moved last June.

    Toronto Corus Quay | ?m | 8s | Waterfront Toronto | Diamond Schmitt

^ Unless you can park your car right next to your desk, looks like it is indeed a 1 level car garage.

    HtO Park (Central Waterfront)

A few pics (not mine): Too bad it doesn't follow the original vision of the steps leading into the water. Would have been great to tip your toes on hot summer days. See:

    2007 Pugs

Horrible site to navigate and review the listings. All flash!? I thought that fetish was long gone.

1 St Thomas (Lee Development, 29s, Stern)

I don't know about this one. It's either going to age well - or its going to look dirty in a couple of years.

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

It appears some of the office space on the top floors have no windows - ouch. At least one unit has access to a large patio.

The Met + Encore at The Met (Edilcan, 43 + 33s, P+S) COMPLETE

I love everything about this development - should have purchased a unit pre-construction. Breaks away from the 'toronto-box', the use of dark glazing, and the attention to details such as the false glazing on the west wall. Imagine these beauties built on the site of RoCP...with the same hight.

    Downtown/Waterfront Casino

What's so 'tacky' about a casino? From a revenue perspective, a lucrative proposition for the city. In addition, a casino along the waterfront/portlands area will draw a constant volume of people to the area - would definitely kick start things into high gear in the vicinity.

    Toronto Crosstown Community | 135.02m | 44s | Aspen Ridge | Sweeny &Co

These aren't just simply manufacturing jobs, but highly specialized engineering / design jobs that are unfortunately lacking in Toronto. Instead of constantly bending over backwards for the auto sector, we should at least show some initiative to attract these type of industries.

Star: Toronto on the verge of bankruptcy

$15k can be simply passed off as a rounding off issue when dealing with a budget that numbers in the billions. The issue is with the publics perception of any perk, especially with a city faced with a chronic budget crises year after year. At a company I was involved with experienced a few...
