    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

The connection from Agincourt to STC is so short and yet best served by subway because the short diagonal distance cannot be replicated with an LRT. Not to mention the traffic impact that the STC will have on the route... But Yes, subway to Agincourt and then STC. BRT from Agincourt to the Zoo...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

I have an idea... Why not run the Sheppard Subway underground until Birchmount then go diagonally south-east towards Kennedy at which it would emerge from a portal and become an elevated line around the CP Rail tracks. Then the line would have a stop near the new Condo's by Kennedy & 401, then...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Has anyone thought of this angle? Feds have put forth $333 Million for Sheppard, initially for the LRT project. The city reallocates $1 Billion from Eglinton LRT into Sheppard The private sector contributes 20-30% for the project (Roughly $500 Million) Suddenly we are looking at almost...

When is a service cut not a service cut? When YRT says it isn't

Yeah but in the long term we will have a subway which will eliminate any need for VIVA Orange in the first place. It will just be VIVA Purple & Zum.

When is a service cut not a service cut? When YRT says it isn't

So here is the simple answer York Region pays Brampton Transit 100% of the cost of running the route from York U to Downsview. Then for the rest of the route, maybe a smaller cost-sharing agreement. I am sure that is way cheaper than running VIVA Orange...with its Martin Grove terminus is...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

My Idea for a Spur to Mississauga City Centre is this: The Magenta Colored Line can be described like this... A) Tunnel from Square One to the existing Milton Line @ West of Dundas where it transitions into Industrial. B) 4-6 Track the Milton Line through the Industrial Lands...

SRT to be shut down for refurbishment (2015)

But really...is the extension to the airport that pricey? Once the line gets to Jane underground, the remainder can be built in a trench or cut n cover in the wide open lands along Eglinton to the airport. Once we pass the airport, then I do see a place where LRT clearly wins out...conversion...

SRT to be shut down for refurbishment (2015)

I love to have lrt take over the existing scarborough rt but if they have to rip station roofs, raise platforms, rip maintenance yard, insert overhead wiring, do major work on rail tunnel...as drum has stated above Then there is no way the cost of lrt and mk2 can be the same.... I was pro-lrt...

SRT to be shut down for refurbishment (2015)

I think that there is so much to work with here that has so far been completely ignored by TTC/Metrolinx. The road network in scarborough is robust (which is probably why transit was ignored for decades) but now it is time to take advantage of it for transit. A) Two Parallel major arterials on...

SRT to be shut down for refurbishment (2015)

I think Kennedy between Lawrence and Ellesmere is due for a widening anyway, might as well start that now and put in permanent carpool lanes similar to the system on Eglinton, Don Mills, Yonge, Dundas, (formerly) Dufferin. But if traffic still seems to interfere, make them bus only till the end...

SRT to be shut down for refurbishment (2015)

why not have metrolinx subsidize the following proposal (that's if it even makes a dent in profit) TTC riders can transfer onto GO Trains from Agincourt to Kennedy ONLY. There can be vigorous fare inspection after these points but it would essentially take a large load off the bus system if TTC...

    YRT 2011-2012 strike

Part of the reason the YRT strike hasn't gained so much attention is because...YRT is partially in service. Take woodbridge for example (where transit usage isn't that high). We have buses along Martin Grove, Islington, Pine Valley, Ansley Grove operating as usual. Weston Road is covered...

    YRT 2011-2012 strike

+1 I think public sector unions should be illegal or highly restricted. Keep private sector unions to make sure the corporation isnt shafting them....but a situation like this would never happen in the first place because the TTC wouldnt be so overpaid! Also YRT does not have to deal with the...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Probably! And im all for it... Rememeber, the mcGuinty government leans centre-right at the end of the day...its just far more strategic about what it does unlike the previous Harris government which had a no surprise WAM-BAM! Slash-and-burn Approach. This govt opens its ears and is more...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

My Prayers Have Been Answered! :D:D:D This is the only way the TTC monopoly can begin to enter the real world and commuters finally get a taste of what a properly managed system should look like. Don't worry about fares, it will work exactly like the Canada Line in Vancouver! And maybe with a...

What prevents us from adopting a distance-based subway fare system?

Why not harmonize GO Transit fares with TTC fares for subway's/LRT's only? That means using the subway to Kipling would cost the same as using the GO Train to Kipling. I think metrolinx should def take over all rapid transit systems in Toronto because they all have such an immensely regional...

What prevents us from adopting a distance-based subway fare system?

Since people "down south" seem to be stupid to the rest of the city, let's use an example that they can maybe relate to. Imagine Eglinton Ave was the border of Toronto (As has often advoated btw) and you live just north of Lawrence Ave. You need to travel down to Union but you first take one...

What prevents us from adopting a distance-based subway fare system?

+ 1 I could not agree more. The 905 has been consistently increasing their transit funding and introducing rapid services like VIVA, ZUM, MiExpress and so on. We already pay tolls unlike the 416 and we pay higher property taxes as well...but i guess most of 905 understands that taxes are needed...

What prevents us from adopting a distance-based subway fare system?

Your not getting the point! If a house of 5 people have 3 people that are close to their current work/school, why should the remaining 2 people be severly punished? I am not against discussing fare by distance! I am angered by the heavy generalization and magic bullet solutions put forward by...

What prevents us from adopting a distance-based subway fare system?

If it wasn't obvious already, you are a very selfish individual but everyone else can see right through your flawed logic... Is fare by distance a good idea? Sure I think its quite reasonable. GO Transit has been using it since inception and most 905'ers aka 'Suburbanites' are completely fine...
