    "Mark thread as read" functionality

Wait...there's no way to mark a thread (or all threads) as read? That's a big loss of functionality. Frankly even the old forum's "mark as read" functionality for threads wasn't that great (other forums have "mark as read and return to forum" functionality, which basically just saves a step...

A History of 50 Cities in 50 Buildings

I don't disagree, but can we really have expected Honest Ed's to remain a discount store forever? And what they're proposing to replace it with looks pretty fantastic, all things considered.

A History of 50 Cities in 50 Buildings

An interesting series of articles from The Guardian showcasing 50 buildings that in a way define their cities (or help to define other concepts like "American suburbia"). Toronto makes the list at #47 (I don't think these are in any order) with Honest Ed's, while Montreal's Habitat comes in at...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

That site says that "most streetcars" will have Presto installed by the end of 2015, but the only routes that it lists that are getting it are Spadina/Harbourfront, Dundas, and Bathurst, which certainly aren't the majority of streetcars by ridership (although I guess it's possible they're the...

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

Laissez-faire left for me. Pretty much exactly represents my views.

    Cabbagetown

Wait...what? Being pleasant and polite is now considered "making inane pleasantries and stroking the egos of their clientele"? I wasn't at Johnny G's this morning and don't know what happened, but nothing in Admiral Beez's account suggests that he expected the server to make pleasantries or...

    Corktown

This guy was running in my ward. Thank god he didn't get in...he might as well have just run as "The Rob Ford candidate" (not that there was much of a worry that he would win...Pam McConnell won pretty handily both last time and this time).

    BlackBerry

I got tired of waiting, so I called a bunch of stores, found one with stock, and just went and picked one up. They (for the most part) honoured the discounts that I'd negotiated when I reserved it over the phone. The downside is that Rogers hates to miss an opportunity to screw something up, so...

    BlackBerry

I hope you ordered it from their consumer department and not the business department. People on the consumer waiting list have been reporting that their units are shipping, I've heard that some stores in town are getting units in, meanwhile I've been sitting at #330 on the business reservation...

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

I'm pretty sure hawc was being sarcastic. Even if not, a solution might have been to rebuild the bush shed as it was originally envisioned: with a glass roof.

    BlackBerry

Strange...they appear to be showing all the ways that the Passport is better than the iPhone (highlighting those ways in red), but then they show a weight of 6.91oz for the Passport vs 4.55oz for the iPhone...is it hip to be heavy, now? That being said, I'm excited to get my passport (although...

    BlackBerry

I had a Bold 9900 and switched to the Z10 and, even though it was a bit of a transition, I ended up loving the touchscreen keyboard (and I was at least as fast on it, and probably faster, than I was on the 9900). After using the Z10 for a while I didn't think that I'd ever switch back to a...

    BlackBerry

I agree. And even if you don't end up liking the passport, you should at least check out the Q10 or the new Blackberry classic. They both have keyboards and they run a completely different operating system (Blackberry 10) from your old 9780...they're really nothing like the old Blackberries...

    BlackBerry

I'm thinking of getting the passport when it comes out as well...I'll definitely have to check it out in person first, though. Looks like it may be a bit wide to fit in a pocket easily. That being said, if you weren't switching phones because you had to (work phone, etc.), why were you...

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

As TOareaFan mentioned, a lot of this doesn't make sense. The capital gains tax rate isn't a "loophole"; it's lower for various reasons including the fact that part of the gain is likely related to inflation (which wouldn't be fair to tax since it's not actually a "gain" in real terms) and, for...

Politics: Tim Hudak's Plan for Ontario if he becomes Premier

Funny...I did that exact thing and thought that exact same thing. Transit? Who needs it! Toronto? Where's that??

    2014 Ontario Provincial Election

I'm glad you responded to that...I was about to say the same thing. You'd think that someone as adamant about hating something as is the admiral would actually look into it a bit better.

    2014 Ontario Provincial Election

The whole point of HST is that it's a value added tax, meaning that it's not paid twice on the same thing. On each stage of the process HST is only paid on the incremental value added at that stage.
