Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

People complained because they were led to believe the Canada Line was going to be tunnelled, and then suddenly one day it wasn't.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Really? Do you have any source for this feeling? We should be clear that the elevated bit really only goes through the industrial/garbage section, with a little grass toward STC, IIRC. The subdivision stuff is further South.

PATH Network Expansion (various, various, various)

I think you mean 110 Bloor West. I can't remember if it actually counts though. As I recall, when you come out of the station at the West end of the platform you pass through the turnstiles and can either go up the stairs to exit at street level beside the large rock, or you can go left into the...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The tweet says it won't be fully ready, which suggests they might still be able to run some services.

    Toronto 400 Front Street | 195.75m | 59s | State Building Group | Kirkor Architects

It's a fenced area where you can take your dog off-leash. And you still have to pick up after them. If you remove the park, dogs are still going to have to relieve themselves. Are they supposed to wait until you can get them over to the island?

I believe this lot was part of Steve Munro's suggested downtown relief construction plan, wasn't it?

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

How does it destroy it? Maybe I'm missing something, but this is the same park that's right beside the incredibly noisy DVP, yes? If you were worried about this you could spend more money and put the elevated portion in the middle of the expressway for a stretch.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I think one thing we have over England is that our third rails are sheltered by wooden boards whereas I don't know that they are over there. But you may still have problems here with particularly deep snow. IIRC during the 1999 blizzard there was a disruption at Davisville, although that might...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I noticed that too but it seems the plan is to get people to take the 506 to Vic Park and then an express train downtown? Or over to Gerrard Square? I'm not sure I'd want to rely on the 506 of all routes... I just focused on the 502/503 because I don't know why you would abandon that much track...

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

They're more expensive but I think they last slightly longer. In my experience they're a much more pleasant ride because they're quieter and don't vibrate as much. They're also much quieter from the outside, which I noticed when a route in my old neighbourhood converted to diesel. But there are...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I don't get abolishing the Kingston Road streetcar while extending the 506 to Victoria Park. This just seems to make things even worse for people in the beaches, which I didn't think possible.

Vancouver. Very pleasant to ride, although there are a few problematic corners where the poles consistently come loose.

    Toronto One Bedford | ?m | 32s | Lanterra | KPMB

Doesn't seem that surprising. She was, IIRC, provost of Trinity College at the time. I can see why they would have been upset to have a major sports facility built directly beside their residences.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It really should be on the map. It's how the subway intersects with a major international airport. It's the kind of information that people who actually need to look at the map (tourists) would want to know. It may have changed now with construction but I remember it being pretty clear in Berlin...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

People would get the hang of it on the TTC. It was never a problem when using my Oyster card, either in the station or on a bus.

    TTC: Customer Service

As mentioned, parts of the Yonge line between Rosedale and St Clair that used to be open were covered over—the last bit, the southern-most segment of the tunnel between Summerhill and Rosedale, not that long ago. The parts that remain seem either hard to develop/use (Rosedale) or very...

    VIA Rail

Kingston and Ottawa suck but the rationale was that the old stations weren't as good for through operation. Kingston you had to back out, and with Ottawa, IIRC, you had to back out or do a loop through Quebec. [Edit] Well, a rationale I guess.

Roads: New Digital Turning Restriction Signals

This thread would suggest that the signal above the red (illuminated in the photo) is a vertical bar, i.e. a transit signal.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

You realize that the first stroller you show holds two children, while the second holds only one? It's a pretty poor comparison.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I think GO originally had 1, and Ottawa got 2.
