    Yonge-Dundas Square/Sankofa Square (Brown + Storey Architects)

I'm sure Claude Cormier could up with a few good ideas for the square...

For me, it's: 1. RDHA 2. Brooke McIlroy or Zeidler DSIA and HPA are strong noes.

RDHA, Mecanoo, Two Row Architect, and NAK Design Strategie's proposal gives me vibes of the National Theatre, London, UK. Their proposal is nodding strongly toward iconic Brutalism, thereby elevating St. Lawrence Centre's mediocre Brutalism. Just my opinion. I respect other's opinions. Source...

To me, Brooke McIlroy's proposal is too timid. RDHA, Mecanoo, et al's proposal is more challenging, more exciting. But the Brooke McIlroy rendering we've been given doesn't really let me see what's going on. I need more views.

I'm interested in coherence. If the original building has to stay, let the addition be in some kind of continuity with it. The design language of this proposal makes the most sense to me. As for the deference to Brutalism, I'm all for it where it's warranted. There's fantastic Brutalism around...

For me it's definitely RDHA, Mecanoo, Two Row Architect, and NAK Design Strategie. Their addition seems most organically connected to the original building. It's a logical outgrowth. The other proposals look like tacked-on, overwrought, ego-driven carbuncles.

Score on King seemed to do well even during the height(s) of COIVD.

I guess the snow from the movie shoot has a dog pee stain for added realism. 😂

Sorry if this has been answered already but is the fight over the height going to the LPAT? I'm no height fanboy but I think, in this case, the building is better proportioned with more height.

The antiques market is no more? 😢

    St Lawrence Market

^^^This is great news. Market St is going to need some winter programming though. It's pretty dead during the cold, dark months. Muskoka chairs and picnic tables with heat lamps? Hot chocolate stations? Quebec-stye maple syrup in snow? Live music? I hope year-round programming is in the works.

Are you serious?? Wow. I didn't know that. I thought it was opening this summer or fall.

There's just layer upon layer upon layer of insulation / weather-proofing on this roof. Crazy.

^^^ Two bilious buzzwords - "bespoke" and "wellness" - smushed together.* *I was reminded of the great word "bilious" right here on UT.

Wow. Impressive population stats. Lots of growth.

    St Lawrence Market

Just a heads-up: Many / most of the venders at St. Lawrence Market are closed until January 9th. I guess they deserve some time off.

This iteration is much better. I hope the brickwork and glazing turn out as good in life as shown in the renderings, the brickwork in particular since the glazing depicted here is pretty unrealistic.
