GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I know this is a pretty minor concern, but I hope they keep the CN paint scheme on these bridges.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

University of Waterloo bus station update: platform brick and concrete in progress, as well as shelter cladding. I noticed they're filling the "waves" of the metal roofs with wood.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I think the T is a good symbol. Maybe it could have been better, but it's definitely an improvement over current signage - what about any of these signs says "transit" to someone who doesn't recognize the logos? The YRT sign does say "transit" and "bus stop", but good luck noticing that if...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Signs (at entrances from Ring Rd, Phillip St, and former RIM campus) and shelter framing at UW Station Edit: I just noticed the arrow for the fare machine points toward the bus station rather than the ION station. Is this going to be the first fare machine outside an ION station?

Same style as the ones at R&T Park and Fairway:

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

I didn't have time to take a picture, but there's another pillar sign up at the Phillip Street entrance to the UW bus station. I wonder if more will go up at other "off-street" stations?

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Looks like a new entrance in the works for R&T Station, plus a sign similar to the one at the Fairway park-and-ride. If they're willing to add crossings after the fact, maybe they can put some more in at Northfield and get rid of those pylons...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

This looks really good! I love the bike integration - loads of parking, and even a ramp from Waterloo Street to the platform! I feel like the plaza could potentially just become a big empty space, but hopefully the area will be busy enough to prevent that. I hope they find a good use for the...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Haven't TTC stations previously had construction above after being completed (Canada Square above Eglinton, HBC above Bloor-Yonge)?

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Even if self-driving cars become mainstream, public transit will always be able to transport more people in the same amount of space. 15 seats in 3 cars won't have more throughput than 47 (or 81) seats in a single bus.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

I don't really "get" option 2. It's got some nice landscaping, but other than that it just seems worse than option 1: No ticketing area Smaller waiting area and community room No sheltered access to the rail platform No direct access between the rail platform and the northbound ION platform...

    Toronto Hudson's Bay Centre Renovations | 32.87m | 6s | Brookfield | Adamson

As someone who actually likes the look of this store (albeit as a tourist), I think this is a good way to make it more visually interesting and street-facing while maintaining the monumental wall.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

I spotted some pedestrian "encouragement" at Northfield station today. The wall on the platform seemed to mostly be respected, but the cones were (clearly) completely ineffective. I'm curious to see what the permanent solution will be here and at the other stations with poor pedestrian...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

I believe busPLUS route 73 serves the former southbound iXpress stop at Northfield, as does the 19B (although I don't recall seeing it on the stop marker). 19A's schedule makes the bold claim that its stop 200 m down the road also counts as an ION transfer point. The university is currently...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Crazy idea: extend both lines (eventually) to the junction near Galt Collegiate and make Cambridge the first GO transfer station outside Toronto!

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Some interesting changes to the schedule format: City limits are now shown on express route maps Express routes get a new front page footer, but regular routes don't EasyGO stop numbers have been removed from express schedules Some primarily east-west maps have been flipped upside down...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Some in-train signage (including a route map) is visible in this article from the Record on yesterday's info sessions: https://www.therecord.com/news-story/9336778--new-grand-river-transit-highlighted-at-ion-education-event/ It seems that route number 301, previously seen used by the...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

To save you the trouble: It looks like GO only lists major stops on their official schedules. GRT seems to list them all on the schedule, but not on timetables. It doesn't help that Montgomery changes its name to Dixon as it crosses King St. The GRT system map only shows stops for iXpress...
