    Toronto Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

Random comments: Decathlon may be looking for space, but larger items like bikes or kayaks may be hard to sell. The Nordstrom is only 3 storeys, so vertical circulation isn't much of an issue. An escalator atrium could be built in a corner of the store to get to upper floors. Hudson's Bay...

    Nordstrom

The spiral escalators are actually in the mall below the Nordstrom. The escalators in Nordstrom itself at San Fransisco Centre are straight. ... and yes, I tend to associate Nordstrom with more conservative clothing, but the Canadian stores weren't as conservative.

Didn't Wal-Mart take over a bunch of Woolco stores (but did so successfully).

The inset part of the podium may be 4 floors, so 2 more inset floors, then tower floor.

Yeah, that sort of puzzled me, because I looked at the facade trying to see any vents and I couldn't find them. There are some small slits that could be vents. I suppose bathroom and kitchen vents don't need to be as large as dryer vents, since dryer vents have to account for lint.

That curve is so foreign, as its neighbours that aren't flat roofed - Ritz Carlton, RBC, Delta, Citibank - have pointy rooflines.

Westbank has been installing ventless dryers in their projects, so if you're wondering because there are no dryer vents, that's probably why.

I'm still wondering why they're cladding the top before the middle?

The text says it's being done now to avoid bird nesting season, and will be for advance work such as utility relocations and road reallignments to free up adjacent work areas. The notice is quite poorly written. It reads like a bunch of disjointed statements.

I think it would have been better with the brick on the podium ending about 5 floors lower, to be more deferential to the older heritage brick building next door. I think that the brick podium being at the same height overpowers the heritage building.

So those benches edging the flower beds on Wellington look good, but won't prevent off-leash dogs from running underneath and taking a poop.

Oh, that's right - I guess that's the western side of the Crosstown line? So probably won't be an issue. Yeah, I haven't been back to Toronto in 20 years!

Here are the catenary references from the December 2020 Preliminary Design Business Case. NOTE: It'll be an overhead 1500 volt DC system, so the electrical transformers and rectifiers will presumably be in substations, not on-board as noted in the articles posted by W.K. Lis above for ac...

It will probbaly take a very, very long time to excavate the "keyhole" down 43 metres. That's about the same as 13 parking levels down.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Just a correction on the status of the Vancouver Broadway Subway reference. While stations and road decks have been under excavation for quite a while, the TBMs were delivered some time last year and the first of the twin bores has already reached Mt. Pleasant Station on January 23rd. PS -...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Could just be a long ramp for handicapped access to the overpass, for if/when the elevator breaks down. On the south side there's an alternate entrance with an elevator, if an elevator breaks down. That's all I could think of.

... and the Project Schedule for this component is probably being extended out due to force majeure.

    Bed, Bath & Beyond

The usual suspects have been Winners, Homesense, Marshalls, SportChek, Michaels, Structube or even T&T Supermarket.
