    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge Commercial | 170.8m | 40s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

And it's extremely bland and, since its designed by Hariri Pontarini, should be a lot better than this mediocrity.

    Toronto CAMH Discovery Centre | 41.6m | 7s | CAMH | KPMB

This is a work of art. Both the interiors and exteriors are done so thoughtfully with a focus on people and warmth. In my opinion, THIS is a rare example of good contemporary design. Quayside was another rare example of beautiful and human-oriented contemporary design.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Are you kidding? This is an example of expensive over-engineering at the expense of attractive & convenient design.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Definitely agree about this. However, I don't think making driving more expensive would be the solution. It would make more sense to readapt our cities for people, rather than taxing drivers. There will always be drivers (although hopefully in the minority), so there's no point to make their...

    Toronto Florence Booth House | 19.56m | 4s | The Salvation Army | DTAH

They certainly know how to make nice pictures (just look at that beautiful streetcar). DTAH is a great firm with beautiful designs (Ottawa Capital Urban Design, Toronto Waterfront, Evergreen Brick Works), but this is clearly a 20th century box with austere windows and a lack of architectural...

    Toronto The Well | 174.03m | 46s | RioCan | Hariri Pontarini

That project destroyed the beauty of Dow's Lake and the character of the surrounding area. It sticks out like a huge middle finger in the middle of a charming established neighbourhood. I really don't understand why that site had to be used for 45 storeys. They could've had a mid-rise or at...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

Huge TfL-like agencies would work better than what we have now by delivering regional transportation goals, making the customer experience easy, and deliver transit based on priorities and not politics. We obviously need regional government that respects municipal needs (instead of the ON gov's...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

That actually could've been a great reform, if done well. If it works in regions like Metro Vancouver (Translink) and London (TfL), why can't it work here?

    Toronto Freed Hotel & Residences | 219m | 63s | Freed | AS + GG

Yes, I think I went too far although I still think that buildings with unique shapes are too often labelled as "great architecture". To me, architecture is much more than shapes or futuristic amenities. I don't expect every building to be a landmark, but I do expect interesting forms and a...

    Toronto Freed Hotel & Residences | 219m | 63s | Freed | AS + GG

It really isn't, I think people in North America are too used to bland architecture, so they think something that is unique is automatically good. The glass is above average, but it's still a pretty expressionless and unpleasing building (unless you're a bird, in which case you'll like the...

    Toronto The Sterling Automotive | 69.2m | 19s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

Definitely agree. The design language is actually pretty elegant, but it just doesn't contribute to the community in any way. If done right, this neighbourhood can be become a model for mid-rise neighbourhoods (see T3 Sterling Road). At the end of the day, places are more important than buildings.

    Toronto Freed Hotel & Residences | 219m | 63s | Freed | AS + GG

I'm not sure what everyone is so excited about. The base's form is unique and the rooftop is, too; but it's still the same type of boring glass building we're used to. It doesn't have a sense of identity and the materials aren't that great, not to mention the typical blue colour. There's a...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I would say that the Thorncliffe Park - Gerrard section has pretty wide spacing between stations (not sure of the station-to-station length). Also, it would be smarter to have 100 km/h capabilities in case of any extensions, which may have wider spacing especially if extended north of Eglinton.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Why is the maximum train speed 80 km/h? There are many straight parts of the line where the train could definitely go at least 100 km/h. This makes no sense.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The stations are pretty disappointing, tbh. A lot of attention was directed towards attractive entrances, but things get very boring once you take the escalator down.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Thank you for mentioning this! What boggles my mind is how many people want the Leslieville section to be buried, without even noticing the importance of the northernmost part of the line! The Don Mills/Eglinton intersection will have tons of new high-density development and yet everyone cares...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I know that Metrolinx has already developed a new wayfinding standard for all types of transit, and it's actually very thoughtful and transformative. The new transit logo is a white "T" in a black circle. I'm not sure if the other agencies will use it, since MX is only encouraging them to do so...

    Toronto Union Centre | 298m | 54s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

I don't mean to correct everyone about everything - I'm sorry. I meant that there was no formal planning system (SPA, Official Plan) before the Planning Act was passed in 1990. There definitely were planning commissions, but they focused primarily on zoning and didn't have comprehensive...

    Toronto Union Centre | 298m | 54s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

There was no city planning when the TD Centre was built. There was zoning, but it solely relied on politics and there was no comprehensive planning.

    Toronto Union Centre | 298m | 54s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

I believe we have Official Plan Amendments for situations where the developer's plans don't conform to planning policies. If a development doesn't conform to a policy, their policy amendment can be approved if it still implements the "intent" of the official plan. When you read an OP, the text...
