St. James Park Revitalization (PMA Landscape Architects)

I think most people understand where it is and isn't appropriate to draw graffiti. Wherever there are blank walls, I don't see much of a problem with graffiti if it improves aesthetics (not if it's just random gibberish). In this case, the person that did this probably did not care at all about...

I'm pretty sure birds fly higher than that. (often)

Already a downgrade. Not as significant as I thought, but still a downgrade. The golden tower looked really nice, especially under the sunlight, and now it's gone.

But why is the acquisition money gathering dust? Why?! Also, it really makes me wonder why no one on City Council does anything about the ugly garbage bins. And it's not just that. We seem to lack a culture of genuinely caring what our public realm looks like, and especially how it's maintained...

    Toronto Westside Mall Redevelopment | ?m | 60s | SmartCentres | Turner Fleischer

😂 😂 😂 It looks very similar to another very dull & lazy project in the Golden Mile. I'm sorry and thanks for clarifying.

These are great ideas! All of this would've happened if they even tried to conform to the Golden Mile Secondary Plan. Unfortunately, the plan is under appeal (not in-force), so we might see a lot of bland development in this area until the appeal is resolved.

I think the execution of the poles is very chaotic, and the light poles look kinda creepy tbh. The renderings were much nicer. Although, the shelters look quite nice and I think they have a sophisticated look.

I wish they would go back to the original design. Perhaps it was too bulky, but the façades were just beautiful.

    Beltline Trail

Metrolinx really should create more contextual stations rather than a "one-size-fits-all" approach. Instead they've come out with a new Design Standard that emphasizes a minimalistic design for all stations, without any public consultation! Regarding this project, I think it's a great idea to...

Got it, and thanks for sharing. The bad maintenance of our public realm (especially where we do have a good public room) is a big pet peeve for me. @DSC do you have any info on the out-of-place utilitarian lighting in Northern Light's image?

Sorry to go off topic, but what are those ugly streetlights on the wooden poles? Do you have idea why they're there and if they're temporary?

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

No, Eglinton Connects is a vision to revitalize the entire stretch of Eglinton from Mount Dennis to Kennedy. Metrolinx is doing that section and that section only, and also around the new stations. But the city's vision was to eventually transform the entire street.

So... no grass along the guideway? Also, does anyone know what's happening with Eglinton Connects? Has the city forgotten about it?

What if... the pro-LRT councillors just don't know or forgot about the whole TPS situation, not some crazy "they hate drivers but don't actually want good transit" conspiracy. The best thing to do is call or email them, and that's what I'll do.

Well then that's a very weird rendering. If it's glass, they should show glass.

Completely agree. I'm not sure what shadow impacts this project might have, but it's definitely beautiful. We definitely need design policies in this city, and we need to focus on bad developments rather than rejecting the best ones.

    Toronto 1140 Yonge Street | 44.95m | 10s | Devron Developments | AUDAX

How this didn't get approved by City Council is beyond me. Imo, the city doesn't fight the bad proposals and doesn't encourage the good ones. Also, why not make this section of Yonge a mid-rise street? It would complement the Scrivener Square development much better, instead of having a pair of...

I might be wrong, but it seems like the glass panels have been replaced with solid elements. Do you think this is true?

They have other options in the same area... but I'm thinking they didn't choose them to protect employment lands

Doesn't Metrolinx have other options for the train yard?
