Vancouver also does this, as do some other places where high frequencies are operated, this way you don't block outbound trains with trains pulling into the terminal half the time. Allows for higher frequencies.

If only there were a mode that was between a subway and "light rail", a sort of light subway or light metro you might say. I do not really get why everyone thinks light metro supporters (if they can be called that) want ICTS, why can't we have the Canada Line, or Copenhagen Metro, or REM tech...

Efficient at burning money

Why build light rail when you could just run more buses? If we need speed and capacity clearly some form of metro is logical. Bit of an odd argument, how many subways do you see running on embedded track down medians.

I hate to burst bubbles but the LRT will be worse for many riders. Most trips aren't ending or beginning in DT Brampton, this is just going to force transfers. But ey, if it runs on rails it must be better . . .

Having access to tools like Google Maps etc. isn't really a good reason to have bad wayfinding. Plenty of cities have better app coverage AND better wayfinding than Toronto. I forget, are they using the same bad TTC faregates? It's not a funding issue - changing signs etc. is obviously...

I get the O-Train has it's issues, but I still feel like we ought to acknowledge more just how quickly the system is getting built out. Once they get their serious hats on and run it properly it will be a great system.

Well I see the UP being last to be converted, it would require station mods most likely and the trains are still quite new (but they are bad). If they wait as long as possible its probably best - though I'd love to see new trains as much as the next person - just hopefully less ugly ones.

I have to agree, rail direct to the terminals is probably better no matter what. Having to take a crappy people mover for the last leg sucks. The US just changed their rules regarding bringing trains directly to the airport and they are cheering it, and we want to move in the direction of more...

You should visit Switzerland Sydney has long run 8 car sets, Melbourne has long run 6. The new HCMT's in Melb are unique as they are 7 interconnected cars, the newer Sydney sets are 8 interconnected cars (used to be 2 4 car emus)...

Hmm, the problem with LRT is that when it runs on the street its not all that much better than a bus. If you want local transit to be better than just put paint on the road and you get most of the benefits of an "LRT" at much lower cost. I am going to do something a little wild here and propose...
