    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

Wait, Matlow is supportive of Aging in Place? Subsidizing keeping a single senior in a sprawling single family home when families of 4 or 5 get squeezed into a small 1-2 bedroom condo? This is what is wrong with our city.

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

Yeah, I'm now undecided between Mitzie and Ana. I think they would both do a good job.

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

You are implying there wasn't a change from Ford to Tory. My view is that I think most Torontonians consider Tory to be a centrist, so they did perceive a shift from right to centre between Ford and Tory.

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

I don't get the strategy either. A lot of the people who vote for him for council are NDP/Liberal swing voters Federally and Provincially, so the "NDP" name doesn't scare them. But I do think the Gardiner issue is a good one to bring up, a lot of people don't like idea of losing the Gardiner...

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

Mitzie's association with the Liberal Party overlaps with Bailao, Bradford and even Matlow (he's never been an NDP guy), and there is something to be said about the Black vote (so there is likely some overlap between Hunter and Saunders). The minority + progressive voter might be a swing...

    LCBO / The Beer Store

The membership can be purchased for 60 dollars for the year (and usually singing up gives the member a gift card rebate of half that amount). Costco is definitely a cost savings for families, maybe not for singles/couples, though. The cost per unit (or cost per gram/100ml) is definitely...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5: Royal York-Eglinton Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Maybe not Humbervale, but Humber Valley (which I presume is where the name Humber-vale comes from, or vice versa) continues to be used for this area quite regularly (for Everything South of Eglinton anyway, maybe not North of it). I know this area well (south of Eglinton) and never heard it...

Toronto Rental Cost (& AirBnB) Issues

We are already seeing the effects. Nurses, teachers, middle class workers, are either a-leaving the city, or b- changing careers , moving to investment banking or real estate spec - why contribute to society and the fabric of communities when you can make much more doing much less. Want to be...

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

The bottom half of Davenport is in purple there, will likely be a harder battle for Chow given Bailao was the former councillor.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5: Kipling-Eglinton Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Most people know The Kingsway to be the neighbourhood along and North of Bloor and East of Royal York. Not here.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5: Royal York-Eglinton Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Am I missing something? The intersection of Royal York and Eglinton - all 4 corners - are clearly in the Humbervale area of that map. The current Royal York Station is also exclusively in the North-east corner of Royal York and Boor, so it also wouldn't be in the Richview area of that map...

    Toronto Sherway Gardens Expansion | ?m | 2s | Cadillac Fairview | DIALOG

Maybe in 30 years when part of that is built out, but as it stands, the area is not in desperate need of a grocer.

    Mississauga Eglinton Line 5: Renforth Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I wouldn't call this a proposed station, it exists already. This would be a proposed addition/extension of the station.

    Toronto Sherway Gardens Expansion | ?m | 2s | Cadillac Fairview | DIALOG

Other than the condos beside the mall, there isn't really a residential area that would use Sherway as a local grocery store though, all of those malls you mentioned are close to residential areas. Sherway is surrounded by big box retail, a highway, warehouses/industrial. The areas to the south...

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

Yeah, I agree. I was saying that in jest, poking fun at the original poster who was implying she's been invisible as a criticism, despite being so high in the polls.

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

If Chow has been invisible and is at 13%, 2 points behind Matlow (statistically tied), imagine where she'll be when she's visible (starting tomorrow apparently).

RapidTO: Citywide Streetcar Priority (City of Toronto, TTC)

A very nice way of saying we don't really know, and we (both) seem to have our own anecdotes and best guesses.

RapidTO: Citywide Streetcar Priority (City of Toronto, TTC)

I'm trying to find data on this, if anyone has any please share. What makes you think that is a general rule? I seem to remember hearing that the areas worst served by transit (far North west and North east of the city) had the highest vehicle ownership - doesn't mean they are expensive...

RapidTO: Citywide Streetcar Priority (City of Toronto, TTC)

I remember hearing on TVO once that the highest percentage of car ownership in the city of Toronto were in Rexdale and Malvern, two of the lowest income areas in the city. Not sure if this can be verified anywhere, but the idea (especially in Toronto) that car ownership is somehow related to...

    2023 Toronto Mayoral by-election

I really don't care if they keep the OSC where it is, or move it, but this argument is absurd, schools pack all downtown museums on weekdays, with many bad things happening around them - it has never been an issue. Also, have you been across the street of OSC in Flemingdon Park? This isn't...
