    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

They can also do: 35/115 from 407 to 35 + 115 to Peterborough (Highway 7) -> 407 35/115 from 401 to 35 -> 435 There will be a short concurrency (407 E/W and 435 N/S) between 35 and the existing 407 interchange. Or keep it simple with only the 401 to 407 section signed as 435 and skip the...

    Vaughan RioCan Colossus Centre Redevelopment | ?m | 55s | RioCan | Hariri Pontarini

Meanwhile I believe there's the abandoned AMC theatre next to the IKEA.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Doing that means pushing the construction site onto the road, which requires detours. From the looks of those satellite photos, it means more trees will be removed.

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

What's interesting from the map, south Scarborough and Etobicoke are relatively safer? To be fair, the density of those collisions are higher in the core. In the suburbs, those would be concentrated at the arterial nodes because the main roads are spaced out further apart.

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

We just need a better system to inform pedestrian of different set ups. On one extreme, this is what you might see in Japan: Big sign next to the pedestrian signals "Push button set up (to cross)", and the wordy sign to the bottom which basically says (pedestrians) to obey your signal, since...

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

The button extends the green phase. Vehicles clear a intersection faster than pedestrian. So if there is no pedestrian waiting to cross, the green phase can end sooner and return the right of way to the main road. Nothing's worse than waiting 30 seconds for the green light when no one's...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Niagara Region's transit agencies aren't part of the deal either.

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

For me, it goes like: the toll rate itself is too high and I refuse to use it for long/mid distance travel, and therefore I don't have a transponder. Now since I don't have a transponder, I won't use it for short trips either because of the add on charges.

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Ironic isn't it? EV adoption may have actually "saved" the future for single-occupant automobiles.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Does the asterisk next the the west exit suggest the mall will build out to McCowan? I can't recall if that's in the plan. Also have they moved the bus terminal?

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

Each municipality has a different set up. In Toronto. the flashing hand comes on when the countdown begins, steady hand comes on at amber light. In Hamilton, the steady hand comes on at red light. In some other municipalities, the countdown appears throughout the walking and flashing hand phase.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

It is actually better for everyone, transit and non-transit traffic, if the left turn phase comes after the through phase - less interruption for through traffic, and left turn traffic waiting half a cycle instead of a full one.

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

For seniors, some intra-Toronto GO trips are already cheaper than TTC ones. Example, going from Finch (or anywhere NYCC) to Scarborough Centre. Even for adult fare, it's 50 cents more on GO, but you'd get a more pleasant ride.

    Great Fried Chicken Thread

Putting aside the seasoning part, the non-chain shops that serve "broasted chicken" is the closest to what KFC used to be.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

The long time frame is a problem when we are playing catch up. Ideally the projects should be staggered, so even if it takes 10 years for completion of one project, you'll get something done every few years going forth. We lost nearly 15 years between Sheppard and TYSSE.

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

It'd actually make sense to include the TTC if this is for the upcoming election. Integration benefits the outer 416, which are the swing ridings.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Exactly. A lot of unknown variables at play though. 1) how much of the ridership from the eastern end of Finch East is bounded for Yonge and not somewhere along Finch East. 2) how will line 1's extension affect the nodal terminus status of Finch station. 3) will enhancing N-S routes in...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Something on Sheppard can serve both Sheppard and Finch. Something on Finch can only serve Finch. Maybe LRT on Finch for local service (replacing bus service), and whatever form of metro it is on Sheppard. Passenger count may not be ideal, but we still need a quick crosstown route in the north.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

True, but that seems to be the flavour of the day at most levels of governments - borrow like there's no tomorrow.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

That is thinking from perspective of individual who has finite amount of money. The government can build more transit even without that money.
