Most of the time the problem is more the owners than the dogs. I often go trail running and will often encounter dogs off-leash. It's intimidating to have a dog come bounding toward you regardless of whether the owner is assuring me that it's a "friendly dog". Having a strange dog jump on me...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

As far as pushing with passengers is concerned, I was on a Barrie train heading northbound when we had an engine failure. They simply waited for the next train, coupled them together, and then pushed our train, stopping twice at each station to unload both sets of coaches. It's definitely...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The greatest portion of that land wouldn't be useful for a highway widening anyway.

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

EgyptAir flies to Cairo from Toronto and Ethiopian flies to Addis-Ababa with a technical stop in Dublin when flying into Toronto, but non-stop in the other direction.

    VIA Rail

I'm not sure I understand that figure. When they mention Stratford-Toronto, do they mean a train terminating/starting in Stratford or that one of the London-Toronto trains via the north corridor would stop in Stratford? I suspect the former as I'm pretty sure Stratford presently gets service on...

Chicago Tribune compliments Toronto's transit system -- thoughts?

Surely there would be some sort of news stories or something about the train crash? Searches bring up nothing except this Silver Streak movie.

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

For what it's worth, $2.7 of the $5.3 billion quoted in the report on the Missing Link last fall is costs related to widening the York, Halton and Galt subdivisions. It doesn't break down those costs, but a significant portion of those costs would be related moving CP traffic onto the Halton and...

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

How would HSR fit in with that though?

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

I think Capital Railways is just the portions owned by the City of Ottawa for running the O-Train.

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

I thought T2 was originally supposed to be a cargo terminal but was converted into a passenger terminal.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

It would have been nice to have a station at Columbia and then another station at Quiet Place. Compromises were made to keep costs lower, unfortunately. While there have certainly been delays, the scale and pace of construction is pretty astonishing to me.

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Ran past it along Ring Road this evening and noticed some cat wire up at Columbia as well.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I think you're actually right, though I'm not sure my math is correct. Using the following sources (noting that King St. data is from 2014 and Hwy 8 data is from 2010)...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

It was from the book that was recently published regarding the construction of the parkway and Freeport bypass. It was actually Galt that wanted a southern alignment. I can give a proper reference when I get home. Regardless of commuting patterns (I should see if a traffic study had been done)...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I think the physical configuration of the roadway is much less important than travel patterns when it comes to numbering and that interregional travel patterns are more important than local travel patterns as it is more likely that people from outside of the local area will be relying on signage...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

What exactly about the Conestoga Pkwy isn't up to standards (or the Freeport Bypass)? There's no RIRO on it like Hwy 400 at Canal Rd, for example, and the 406 in St. Catherine's has even lower speed limits. Personally it just seems like the MTO doesn't really have a clear-cut policy about...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Oops, yeah, as I stated before, Hwy 8 in local nomenclature pretty much exclusively refers to the Freeport Bypass connecting the 401 and Conestoga Pkwy.

Also, the primary route of most people in KW is along 8/85.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The original plan was for Hwy 6 to continue on it's own carriageway so that there was a seamless connection; however, the plan was changed so that there either one or two lanes (I forget the exact configuration) will be continuous for Hwy 6, but that there will otherwise just be a combined 401/6...

They should consider adding kiosks in the baggage claim area so people can buy a ticket/Presto card/reload their card while waiting for baggage to show up.
