GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

The thing is though a lot of people were thinking in terms of locomotives that already exist with no modifications. I am starting to think that GO going with an entirely new class of loco may be more likely as Siemens is incredibly backlogged with Charger production and the F125 has been...

You know, here's a thought. What if the new locomotives will be an entirely new class of locomotive? I mean all 3 of GO's current locos, F59s, MP40s, and MP54s were specifically ordered first by GO, and did not exist before that.

You know, this is something I have been wondering now for many months Classic Cab Car 251, which is one of the Series 8 cab cars that weren’t relegated to coach use, has not been in service since October of 2021. I heard it suffered some sort of mechanical failure after departing Union with a 6...

What year is it again? I don't remember the last time an older classic cab car was paired with an F59PH on longer than a 6 car train, let alone 2 F59s. But alas here it is, locos 561 and 558 paired with classic cab car 257 on the Niagara this past weekend.

Noticed that the 5:08 Barrie NB train today was 6 cars rather than the usual 12. The consist (655) that's operating this train was also the same one that struck a person at Clarkson yesterday, and that consist yesterday was 12 cars. Wondering if those two things correlates?

Today I returned to Willowbrook and photographed 206 sitting east, attached a cut of OOS cars.

Considering that the steps at the doors of the BiLevels is what’s preventing GO from having the 610 mm ATR platforms, is there any plan in place to re-place the steps? Kind of surprised the recent ONR and Alstom refurbishments do not address these issues.

Here is 206 facing the wrong way at Willowbrook (the cab in this image is facing east) The image is not mine

My apologies, I should have worded my phrasing a bit more accurately. YDHR at one point did want to operate freight services on the Uxbridge Sub using ex CP 4500, an ALCO, however due to the combination of GO apparently not wanting the big 6 axle loco operating on the line + some falling out...

Considering the fact that GO at one point put their foot down and prevented the YDHR from operating freight services along the Stouffville line with a big 6 axle ALCO years ago. I am confident that GO will not get the SD70MACH or anything similar. What I would NOT rule out however is used locos...

The Siemens Charger has a Cummins prime mover though?

MPI doesn't exist anymore, ever since Wabtec and GE merged, the Boise, Idaho plant (where all the MPXpress locomotives were built) was closed in 2020. Wabtec is currently not listing the MP54 for sale, so it is very unlikely MP54s would be offered.

I have a feeling that we'll really only know the options until, as MX stated they will, more information is given by the new year.

I believe you are referring to some of the 7 Series 8 cab cars that GO have retained since the introduction of the Series 10 CEM cab cars, numbered 251-257. Those have been in service for more than an entire year since the service increases back in summer of 2021. Series 2 refers to the 15 cab...

That I believe is the F69PHAC locomotive that Amtrak tested out (and ultimately decided to not continue forward with them) Would've been interesting to see in GO service

That makes it lean towards the new side considering there aren't that many one singular type of used locos still waiting. But if the contract is awarded to a leasing company or something that rosters a bunch of used locomotives then they could provide more than one type of locomotive.

Well while I doubt Metrolinx will order refurbished freight locos, there is a part of me that actually thinks these locomotives be rebuilt used locomotives. Considering that the procurement process still isn't done and the locos are expected within less than 2 years, it seems less and less...

What options could be chosen. The only new passenger locomotives in the market at the moment is the Siemens Charger and EMD F125, although I suspect an Alstom built locomotive could be in the running too.

Along with the 6 packs returning, there is something else to note. Loco 558, an F59PH, has been placed on a 6 pack by itself and is running on some of the off peak Kitchener, Barrie, and Stouffville trains. I remember the F59s were only being used for the London and Niagara trains for the past...

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t the refurbishment make them a bit more safer in terms of structure?
