GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Alstom doesn't, however as seen with the F59, and their electric locos for electrification, they might be able to build something new for GO. The only other thing I can think of was General Electric (Now a part of Wabtec), making a "P47AC", which was likely a model that was submitted for the...

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

If GO still wants 8 locomotives by September of 2024, it honestly seems more and more unlikely that a manufacturer can build and finish 8 brand new locomotives for them within that time frame, even if a contract were to be executed right now.

Just saying, apparently in the tender there is a section requiring the locomotives to either be Tier 3 or Tier 4 compliant. The Tier 4 bit is nothing out of the ordinary, however there hasn’t been any new Tier 3 passenger diesels produced recently, so maybe that indicates GO could look to allow...

Well if we're looking at the used market, there are actually the 10 EXO F59s (that coincidentally are ex GO), that would be up for retirement by 2024 due to them being displaced by the Charger locomotives. Metrolink also has their own list of F59s that they are retiring and putting up for sale...

From what I heard that isn't the case. I've been told that the Pearson Spur is only capable of holding equipment slightly heavier than the UPX DMUs (like the TTC Subway cars). It doesn't seem capable of holding heavier equipment like full on locomotives or the BiLevel cars.

The MP54AC has been discontinued ever since the closure of the MPI plant. The only options I see are the Siemens Charger or EMD F125.

That's what I think. Though since MX seems to be adamant there will be more major service increases between 2024-2025, they would probably need more locomotives.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Since GO has to deal with CP and their hostility towards passenger agencies regarding the Milton Line, I feel it would instead be better for them to find a way to have the original 21 service back. The “have riders change onto LW trains to go to Union” strategy doesn’t seem to be that effective.

The Metrolinx post regarding when someone asked about 13 locos said that they would NOT be retired even once they all arrive. So it seems they will be lasting until 2025 at a minimum.

Then again, I highly doubt GO reactivated the controls in the rebuilt cab cars for no reason. It seems pretty obvious that the 13 locomotive order was meant to go alongside the extra 15 cab cars GO would receive when all of the 200 - 214 batch returned from North Bay (so far 7 have returned...

I honestly think it's very likely MX may have cancelled that tender. There still hasn't been any awardee listed, so no contract has been executed yet. That means whoever would win would need to build 8 locomotives within less than a year (if the September 2024 timeline still is to be followed).

they only seemed to suggest 150 cars would get repainted The 56 Series II cars and 94 Series VII cars that are scheduled for refurbishment fits that number.

Caught at Whitby just a few days ago, 2 Series 8 cab cars (I believe 251 and 252) out of service at Whitby, near the paint shop. Judging by the fact they have been out of service for around 2 - 3 months, and the fact they're near the paint shop, maybe they're scheduled to be repainted?

Apparently that update was error, the bus will NOT be going from Kipling to Union. It will instead follow the current route 21C except go to Kipling and terminate there rather than going to Port Credit.

So it seems the London consists may now be used across the system. I saw 562 with 10 cars going north on the Barrie Line (departed Union at 17:08 PM).

Image found on Facebook. Still cannot tell whether the Series VII Cab Cars that were sent to Thunder Bay are getting reactivated like the Series II cab cars or deactivated as some have stated before.

So for some reason the 10:53 train to Aurora has bike cars on it. (image taken from miniprints railcam YT livestream)

I do find his comments about claiming many cars being around 50 years old misleading. While sure you could make that argument for the Series I and II cars, which would be approaching EOL in the next couple of years, the rest of the BiLevel fleet haven't even reached the 40 year mark yet. Mind...

"Operational Issue" is fairly vague, may not have had anything to do with the train. And even so, judging by the trip affected it would have had to been one of the MPI locos.
