Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

Haha. Challenge accepted. There is so much red tape and excuses from city-hall. I'll keep advocating when I can. For culture/art/joy to exist in Toronto, we need to start thinking more about this.

Well said. What's interesting is the long term effects of pedestrian/cycling prioritization and how it will radically change Toronto planning in the suburbs.

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

While I'm looking forward to this project, my ultimate utopic dream would be for Yonge Street to kind of be like how it was in the 70s and 80s — Music venues, culture, art spaces, arcade bars... etc. I find this project interesting but no one will want to congregate in the public realm with...

Yeah I'm beyond excited. I think this is going to be fun, especially in the summer.

Guys, I feel we're getting off topic and.. was not meant to insult anyone at all. I have a strong opinion about it and I find the most of the architecture disappointing except for the bases of the towers and interiors. I simply don't think the office buildings look inviting from Spadina. I...

I was not intending to berate anyone. I don't know what you mean. I am just typing out loud how I don't see what others see in this, especially compared to other mixed-use developments. Certainly wasn't meant in a tone of being judgemental. And to your second point, even if I didn't agree...

It will be interesting to see which development ends up being cooler. MV or The well. I am quite unimpressed by the architecture of this project either than the base of the buildings, despite a lot of praise. I find it embarrassing to look at. I don't understand the excitement.

There seems to be a new website design for mirvish-village.com, it's kinda cool.

The Danes seem to be the saving grace of Toronto's east downtown

Thanks for the comprehensive reply, this clarified a lot. This is the first time I've heard of TPLC (Toronto Portlands company), they seem to be managing real-estate or are helping to facilitate development but are working with the city? Not sure how that will all work but thanks for this.

This is really random, but can anyone speculate to when we might get a masterplan/development proponent for this site? Sometime in 2024? I am really anxious about what kind of development we will get here. We already have some kind of masterplan for the Portlands but it seems outdated given...

There was actually a call for proposals in Dec for development/destination retail in the hangars. I got an email from Northcrest.

I just think you’re being condescending for no reason. I didn’t do anything wrong it’s just a difference in opinion. Many people want neighbourhoods to change but others think certain places are amazing as they are. It doesn’t have to be that deep.

NIMBYism usually refers to development that is within one's community, where this is pushback from local residents and there is a degree of intense gatekeeping. I do think there is a profound difference between an individual not wanting a neighbourhood to lose its charm or cool factor vs...

I do not appreciate you calling me a NIMBY. I think there's a fine line between wanting a locality or soul of a neighbourhood to remain and be exciting or unique to some degree versus simply not wanting development at all. We're not strangers to the sterility of development and what we get in...

Ok maybe Parkdale is more of a plateau vibe, but idk I feel a lot of similarity between Mile End and Landsdowne personally. I always feel like it's a cool area with cool things going on.
