I heard through the grapevine that the ONTC Siemens Chargers/Ventures will begin fabrication at Siemens Sacramento next month (May 2024). Curious what nose cone we get, since renderings of two versions have been floating around.

Bloomington has a reputation as being the most overbuilt and underused station on the GO network. It would be fine.

I’d remove Gormley and add Bloomington because that station has more protected parking (it’s a massive parking garage), and a more protected platform for people waiting.

We build literal underground railways (subways). Doing a track tie-in is literally the easiest thing possible.

The RFP closes June 4th, so early work could even begin later this year I’d guess. I honestly think that the biggest variable is if Siemens can deliver the train sets on time. No reason to assume they won’t however.

I wonder if they adjusted the order for some reason to have the same nose cones as Amtrak long distance. Also this tender went out April 4th: Northeastern Passenger Rail Service - Reinstated Stations (Package 1 & 2)

Also, here is the link to the Timmins-Porcupine Station TRAP presentation. Looks like they changed the nose-cones from VIA to Amtrak on the new train sets?

“Transfer to washrooms” LMAO. I guess instead of going to Lines 1 or 2, you can go #1 or #2.

This doesn’t really count but Mississauga has the UP Express and will get the Line 5 extension at Renforth.

Tracks poured and covered for the segment east of Yonge.

As someone who drives the line often I’d say Q3 or Q4 2025 for phase 1. Whenever the downtown loop begins construction, I’d say 2 years for that element. For the Brampton extension, I have no clue. It really depends if it is being buried or running on the surface.

Confederation’s station building looks to be coming along well! The platforms a bit slower though. I guess the target opening is 2025 so we have time.
