Queen West rents came down a bit a couple of years ago but have started to climb back up, more in line with they probably should have been. There was a hope that large retailers with deep pockets would populate the strip but I for one prefer the way it's gone.

It's just really disappointing to see something other than proper retail move into the area. The fact that tanning salons are even expanding is strange, but that's a whole other conversation. Even though the old MAC spot still doesn't appear to have any action, I'd rather the agent hold out...

So the old Piquadro spot is becoming a tanning salon. Brutal! What a waste of space. If I see another dentist, dry cleaner or salon of any kind open up in prime retail spots in Yorkville I'm going to scream.

Anti-Hero is still open. I think 113 was also a restaurant. They still seem to be building the addition to old Betsy Johnson spot, but it doesn't say who's leased the space. I can't find the building permit application on the city of Toronto website. Yah, Agent Provocateur has had several...

Anyone know who is taking over the tiny little spce between Juicy Couture and Wilfred(?)?? Also, the space on middle level that used to be Style Exchange? I thought that was supposed to be LOFT.

Van Cleef & Arpels is definitely only a shop-in-shop - no street presence. The Moon pop-up now shows 'Leased', which is likely Brooks Brothers taking over that and Escada. Anyone have an idea who's taking the old Betsy Johnson? There's ongoing work inside. 113 Yorkville has been leased as has...

Brooks Brothers is definitely taking over the old Escada (according to Cushman and Wakefield's Q2 2012 retail report http://www.cushwake.com/cwmbs3q12/pdf/retail_toronto_2q12.pdf). The address is 110 and the square footage seems to make sense. I'm not sure about Moon though. That could be...

There doesn't appear to be anything going on with UGGS. It looks the same as it did a month ago so I'm not sure what you're referring to to be honest. Still not convinced old MAC isn't leased either. The signs are still down but if you can confirm that the agent only lowered the asking price...

Is that confirmed? Why remove the lease signs just for a drop in asking rent? What do you mean about UGGS? Is there a lease sign?

Don't know if this is good or neutral but the 'For Lease' signs have come off the windows of the old MAC spot. The one over the door is still there but this to me means there has been some development.

It's true, Bloor as a entire street does very well. I don't have any strong feelings towards Stuart Weitzman one way or another. The space isn't big enough for a clothing retailer flagship so footwear was probably the most logical and appropriate result. I agree, re MAC though. Something's...

Totally agree with that sentiment. Le Chateau is not the mid-range store that should be on Bloor. Also 5th Ave and the Mag Mile are much longer streets, so until Bloor's boundaries stretch beyond Yonge and Avenue, retailers like Winners, FCUK, Jacob, etc are out of place. I actually think...

I can only assume you're joking. Please let Jacob be the next to leave!

I would say unlikely. Their strategy now seems to be partnering up with The Bay and Harry Rosen.

Here's an article regarding Ports from The Star. It seems as though the Bloor Street location was just too small for them to make it worth their while. http://www.thestar.com/living/shopping/article/1313499--ports-1961-will-close-toronto-store

Louisa Spagnoli has opened at 162 Cumberland - according to their website anyway. Just walked by her store in Knightsbridge, London and it ain't cheap. This is her first NA location.

I haven't personally seen any activity in there except once there was a ladder inside near the window. That was weeks ago and now it's gone. I hope that guy is right though. There used to be a Bulgari boutique at Royal de Versaille but it's been Rolex for years now.

Yah, I saw that, but someone else posted that, not Retail Insider themselves. That would be amazing, but I'll believe it when I see it. That spot would be ideal for a Bulgari-ish retailer but it's been vacant for so long that I'm wondering what's going on with it. Considering the leasing on...
