Isn't Birks opening in the old La Swiss?

You're right, too early to tell, but I can't imagine Brooks Brothers taking 15,000 sq ft of prime space right smack in the middle of the strip and not having a street entrance. Unless 110 Bloor technically extends into that empty passage next to Nike, they must be taking some or all of Winners'...

Okay so 110 Bloor west is Winners. How many sq ft do they currently have and is Brooks Brothers taking over the whole spot? That would still leave Escada to become the D&G store, which would make much more sense to me.

Hmm...was there confirmation that Guerlain is moving and not just closing? Hope it's not closing. Not that I use it but it's the only Guerlain in N.A. and has been there a long time so it would be sad to see it close. I can't see Club Monaco taking over just Starbucks - that doesn't make any...

Rumour is that Longchamp or Tumi is taking over the old MAC spot. Will try to get some confirmation of this one way or another.

Possible, but not likely. I think ardwold1 is right that Brooks Brothers would be taking over Escada and Guerlain. LV's old spot is only about 6,600 sq. ft so that's a reasonable D&G location. Although that has been a rumoured Dior location for a while now. Once Tiffany moves that's 13,000...

According to Cushman and Wakefield, Brooks Brothers has signed a lease for a 15,000 sq. ft store at 110 Bloor West. Is that the old LV or soon to be old Escada space? Also, they haven't confirmed the D&G notice that Colliers published in their report but that doesn't mean anything. Here's...

Great news! I drove by it today and even just from yesterday it looks like there's very accelerated progress. The branding is now up all the way across.

So for the record, Dolce and Gabbana is opening on Bloor (according to Colliers anyway) and Dior is the most likely candidate to take over the existing LV spot. I don't think anyone is denying that Canada is probably a little to the game when it comes to high end retailers setting up. I do...

You do realize that it's the retailers themselves who want to enter the Canadian market. That point seems to be lost on you so it's probably better to get back on topic and not waste another minute on your misunderstandings.

Then Dubai, Doha, and every city in China should be considered New York wannabes. Tall buildings are an urban reality not some twisted desire to mimic NYC. Retailers that are expanding into Canada (and in particular Toronto) are not doing it to turn Toronto into NYC. It's a business decision...

Whoa, easy dude. I don't think major retailers are hyper-sensitive to landlords who may not be overly polite. It's a business running a building and if landlords are being picky about who sets up it's probably because they don't want a short-term commitment from some fly-by-night retailer. A...

Not sure. They were in Hazelton Lanes I believe. The consolation prize was that they set up in Holts and The Bay as shop-in-shops, owned and operated corporately. The staff is RL staff and even buying from there it's an RL bag, etc. Nevertheless, it would be nice if they returned to Yorkville.

Doesn't Ralph Lauren own Club Monaco? It'd be nice to see them take over Cub Monaco's existing space. The building is practically a poster child for Ralph Lauren boutiques.

I seriously hope they repave the street on Yorkville Ave. in front of the Four Seasons. It's like off-roading down there and not appropriate for any city street let alone one that pulls into a five star hotel. Think of all the Lamborghinis and Ferraris that will bottom out! :)

If the retail extends beyond Avenue to the west and Yonge to the east, I don't think the expectations are too high. You have to remember, too, that a good chunk of NYC's high end retail is on Madison Ave. To me, this would be the equivalent of Avenue Road attracting more high end, along with...

I agree with you on that one. I figure that will be the case in a few years' time when leases expire and landlords boot some mid-rangers out. The trouble is that stores like H&M, for example, have massive square footage so it makes it difficult sometimes for high end to absorb those footprints.

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

Cool. I would have pegged Queen West for the first Vans store but this makes sense too.
