    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

He has ripped contracts that he didn’t like. That is his perogative as Premier. I don’t like all that he does. He didn’t break contracts that had penalties- Beer store, Finch West and yes Eglinton. The terms were never shared but we can infer they could not be easily broken and hence why he...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It’s not only about ridership. Take Finch East as an example. You can’t take away one lane out of two as Finch is a key arterial road that has high ridership but also heavy traffic. It’s a key through route across and crosses many ravines. You need to factor in trucks and delivery services and 1...

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

It’s a crown corporation and he has full control of it. Of course the buck stops with him. I don’t believe him when he says such shit as he has no control. He had a minister there and works closely with Metrolinx and the secret society that they are. The issue is that the crosstown contract was...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It definitely won’t but it will improve transit service and speed of service on those two lines. So the riders will see much needed improvements. For Toronto as a whole, the Eglinton line will be transformative due to the sheer length of it. Once it’s extended to Renforth drive and the airport...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

You can’t just reduce capacity of each arterial by 50% and think that will fly. These are key roads that are already jammed and you want to dedicate 1 lane each way for buses only? No one will support it. No everyone takes the TTC. The only places bus lanes are okayed is where there are 3 lanes...

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Metrolonx has also delivered payments modernization after the initial mess of Presto cards. Open payment now works well and it’s much simpler to ride the GTA transit systems. Yes it took years and they should have done this from the beginning but we have it now. On Doug, the blunders like the...

    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Why? He’s actually been the better of the worst possible alternatives. He’s done better on transit than any Liberal Premier like McGuinty of Wynne.

Roncesvalles, Seaton Village or St. Clair West?

$1.5M in 2030 will be worth what $900K was worth in 2016 given where inflation has been last 2 years.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I work in the Downtown Markham area and when I drive on highway 7, the few viva buses I do see are almost always empty. This is on weekday rush hours. I suspect it’s a Covid effect of many office and IT workers in the area working remotely.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

A lot of it is regional - folks avoiding the 407 to go far. It doesn’t translate to YRT ridership as most folks who live there have access to a car and many destinations are not right off 7 so transit with the poor service that’s there is not even considered. Also parking is free and ample along...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

This project is just as dead as the Waterfront East LRT or the ferry terminal expansion. Until the city puts money towards this nothing will be built sadly.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I doubt Markham ridership went up much on Viva Purple: the highway 7 viva BRTs are not well used primarily because the service is crap. Yonge St investment made sense but for Highway 7 the road and the surrounding corridor is not condusive to much transit ridership. Outside the few captive...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

It will be 36 mins to get to Finch West from Humber College. This won’t get you to Yonge or anywhere close. It’s probably another 20-30mins to get to Yonge from Finch West.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Scarborough’s population is actually on the decline. Most of Toronto is declining except for the areas with highest development like downtown, mid town and the Etobicoke Mimico waterfront and the Kipling area. Most of northerner Scarborough is suffering from lack of any development and a...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Oh the LRTs will hit every red light and then stop at the stop after the light. This is the Toronto standard. We slow down cars and streetcars and LRTs. Watch and let’s ee

    John Street Revitalization

Because the city doesn’t care and pushes these projects out. They like announcing projects but not implementing. When is the King St proper makeover supposed to happen? Right , never as it’s not funded. So the King Pilot remains as a pilot for almost a decade. Sad.

The space looks nice but it’s soulless and barren. There are no people there.

    VIA Rail

This is all a pipe dream. HFR is not funded and may never actually get built. Even if it does why do you think HFR won’t need subsidies. It very well will until ridership builds up and until the infrastructure is paid off. There will still be the regular lakeshore line for non-express service...

    VIA Rail

A 2 hr commute is doable if someone is going once a week. Yes it’s a long day but one can work on the train too. The point is to provide options. It doesn’t even have to be Shinkansen speed. A decent speed that connects the two cities within 2-2.5hrs would do it. With connectivity to other...

    VIA Rail

Daily no, but what if the services was 3-4 times a day? What if housing was so much cheaper and one could come to Toronto for office trips or medical / shopping 2x a week. It would make Sudbury a community that is an easy commute to Toronto. My point is that it opens up more possibilities. Not...
