    Mississauga Mississauga Transitway | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | IBI Group

In that case, instead of building out a full fledge 407 Transitway, they should instead look at redesigning the park & rides to allow GO buses to drop and pickup passengers without getting off the highway. Something akin to the truck inspection stations. Edit: I just realized that wouldn't...

    Mississauga Mississauga Transitway | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | IBI Group

I never understood the practicality of constructing a 407 transitway when the highway is never congested and the GO buses are always flying along the 407, making good time. I think there needs to be better connections between the 407 and Mississauga Transitway. Which is what I was suggesting in...

    Mississauga Mississauga Transitway | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | IBI Group

Are there any future plans to expand the Mississauga Transitway? A lot of the 407 GO buses would probably benefit if the transitway extended north along side the 403/ 410 all the way up to the 407. Build a stop at CourtneyPark Dr. Also construct direct access (for buses) between the 407 and...

New GO Train Control+Signalling (PTC, CBTC, ETC) -- Safety & Subway-Like Frequency

I doubt it. Freight rail is dominant in N.A. and all three countries have already standardized there freight networks since frieght trains are constantly crossing over each others borders. Compared to Europe, how often do passenger trains cross over N.A. borders? The signal system that exists...

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

Crazy to think that if Alberta follows through with it's 15 year master plan for passenger rail, it could surpass all other provinces in terms of rail connectivity. If Alberta can pull this off, it'll ignite a rail renissance in Canada. Everyone else will want to replicate Alberta's success...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I wish there was a map we could reference that would show the current progress on the twinning of the Stouffville and Barrie line.

Homelessness on GTA Transit (catch all)

I'm currently in Edmonton. I wanted to ride the LRT while I'm here, but unfortunately a lot of the stations have been turned into open drug dens. It makes waiting for the train an unpleasent experience. It also doesn't help that downtown Edmonton seems desolate, and you see no one walking the...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

So essentially GO trains will be operating under two different signalling systems? How's that going to play out for condictors/ engineers? Are there any other networks that operate with two different signal systems?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Is it even possible for the GO network to switch to ETCS signalling system? I'm assuming the fact that GO shares track with freight would make the switch difficult. Unless freight can work off of ETCS as well.

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It'll be more than 30-60 seconds. Also consider that by going this route, we're adding an extra intersection/ red light to the line. Which in turn will add more to the travel time.

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

We have to do this right the first time. If we construct this LRT line with the two 90° turns on Dundurn, we'll never construct the 403 bridge. The people of Hamilton will be stuck with a slow LRT that offers them no time savings compared with taking a city bus.

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

This LRT project shouldn't move forward until they secure funding for the 403 bridge. The two 90° turns on Dundurn is a terrible idea.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Does anyone else think it's time to just do away with the HOV lanes? Now that the Ontario government allows single occupant vehicles to pay to use them, they're practically impossible for the police to enforce. I often see drivers (with passengers) treat the lane as a passing/ fast lane and...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

https://www.progressiverailroading.com/labor/news/CN-makes-new-offer-to-TCRC--71687 I was seriously considering switching from Intermodal to Transportation because of to the higher pay. I didn't care about losing my seniority, but I can't stand the thought of having to go back onto the...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Whining had nothing to do with the reversal of this decision. It's clear Michael Ford who is related to the Premier, managed to pull the nepotism card.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

It's unbecoming and causes people to lose respect for you. But it sounds like you're willing to pay that price.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

If the trains were allow to travel through the stations at their optimal speed and not have to decelerate/ accelerate, then the time savings would be greater than 2 minutes.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

With the Gardiner going to be in a state of construction for the next 3 years. Is there a possibility that we'll see a boost in ridership on the LSW? I ask because with developer Vandyk pretty much going bankrupt, and the Mimico Grand Central project all but dead. I wonder if it would be in...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

You never said anything about "time". You were talking about fare integration and not having travelers backtrack to Union. Kipling station and the 900 Airport Express solves both those issues. There's no doubt it's a longer trip, but it's more affordable. What if Mississauga ran an express bus...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Or instead of getting off at Dundas West, riders take the Bloor line all the way to Kipling and transfer on to the TTC airport express bus. Get your fare integration and all. UPX is not part of the fare integration.
