    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

I'm surprised that the province didn't download the entire thing until 12 when they extended the 407

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

It's actually funny because sometimes it contradicts their own ideology. Sometimes a highway needs to be built to reroute thru traffic so that a stroad can be turned into an actual street or to prioritize transit. Even the Netherlands builds highways for this purpose. But no, instead we should...

Any plans to reconfigure 401 through Belleville? That to me seems much more substandard than Thorold Stone.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The picture may not do the width of the span justice, it is 4 tracks after all. If you look at the gantries that hold up highway signs, they aren't too different. Although it appears even this has thicker supports.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

There would need to be new traffic lights at every intersection

My rant/questions about the consequences of the Gardiner/DVP upload

The final "control city" listed on the QEW at the 427 interchange is "Toronto (Downtown)". I think that's totally fine to just sign until downtown. Perhaps once you get downtown it could switch to "404 via QEW". Westbound within Toronto could be QEW Mississauga. No one would be confused by those.

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

As it stands now, the DVP exits are already somewhat continuous from the 404's. The 404 stops at exit 18 at Sheppard and the DVP resumes at exit 14 (even though it's only 2km between?) at York Mills, counting down to the Gardiner. The Gardiner's exits are also a continuation from the QEW...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

AADT for the 35/115 RIRO ranges between 25k-35k and it generally works fine. It's when traffic gets to around the 50k-60k mark that things start to become too much for RIRO, as seen in Hwy 11 south of Orillia. Yes, 10k is generally considered the minimum to justify a freeway, but that doesn't...

410 extension to Hwy 9 might seem compelling but expensive. Could Hwy 10 be converted into a RIRO with relative ease?

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Perhaps the naming will stay but I can see Hwy 2 being revived for at least the Gardiner. The QEW designation might also just go right back to where it was pre- downloading at the Humber. The DVP is too different in quality from the 404 that I can see it being applied there, but perhaps if the...

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

I would think it would just be tacked on as part of Hwy 10. It would be strange to have Brampton or Caledon (keep in mind Peel will soon cease to exist) manage a road that solely connects two provincial highways.

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

On a map at least, it doesn't seem like these curves are that different from the curves on the 407/401 (10 lanes) and 407/403 (6 lanes) where traffic handles them at full speed.

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Long time lurker, first post. They could extend the 410 by about 500m, and use a combination of a Parclo A4 and a full freeway interchange. Coming from the 410 or going onto the 410 would use free flowing ramps, while traffic from 413EB to 10NB would turn left at a typical Parclo which is...
