Can anyone explain to me why renders like this exist and are created? I recognize that I'm a layman ... but they seem like an odd way to portray a building. The image itself is unflattering, and I've sure never looked up and seen a building look like that, with over-accentuated upper floors...

Something about this building just isn't working. Maybe it's premature to say that, so I'll hold final judgement, but something feels off with the design ...

It feels like they are moving along super fast with regard to finishing-type touches on the base. Does anyone have an idea if this is because they intend to open the base before the tower is finished topping out? Is that even possible?

I 'think' the video in this is new ... sorry if I missed it being linked already. Although a spa or bathe or whatever it is wouldn't be my first choice for the commercial element, maybe they are confident it'll work. That said, I think the overall plan comes off looking ok in this video...

Anyone seen any chatter on this site? I walk past it pretty regularly, and have seen zero new work being done in weeks or even months now. As well, work that was done appears to be falling apart and is unfinished in many places. The building is looking like a bit of a mess and I was wondering...

Nobu looks great driving into the city and adds some diversitiy to that cluster. I know it's not everyone's cut of tea, but it definitely looks much better in person, and especially from a slight distance than pictures give it credit for.

These things all look terrible in person. Real shame. They could have been such an anchor to the community. Now anytime I pass by, all I can think of is how cheap they appear.

I agree 100%. Personally, I can even live with the rest of the tower. I'm not a fan, but I don't find it as offensive as others. But the base ... omg ... the base. It looks like what you'd see on the back side of a building where they load shipping etc. They must be aware of how bad that...

I actually agree with @70Challenger as it relates to that photo. The building isn't living up to the renders, and there are other problems as well, but it might be a nice addition to the skyline when viewed from afar.

Does anyone know if the stand-alone house is in its permanent location? The reason I ask is that it feels like there is overlap with the street facing facade. Not sure if it's an optical illusion from when I walked by, but seemed like the two were awkwardly positioned relative to each other ...

I walk past this daily and haven't noticed it in person. I see it in some of the pictures, but it's either much less visible in person or is just a photo effect.
