Lots of noise this afternoon as they pull apart the steel piles.

They removed those 3 caissons today. See pics below. My iPad seems to choose the order they get attached. I may try to edit. Anyway there is a close up of the three I saw and two pics from early 70s when Toronto Star was being built and just to the north is the low rise building that these...

I would say they are about 10m-12m down and 8m-10m to go. I presume they’ll go down to the same level as phase 1. Here is a pic from Oct 2018, from page 183 of this thread, posts around 2730 and later. Have a look at the posts from that time for comparison.

It was very sunny this morning. Here are a couple of the north side that are being illuminated by the reflection from the Royalbank tower(s). And also a few to the right of Pinnacle out to the Leslie St spit where it looks like there is a movie shoot.

Today it looks like they are into the start of the shale. You can’t mistake the sound of the steel claws of the bucket scraping and fracturing the top layers shale. Have a look.

These are awesome photos everyone. I can’t help but think when I am carrying out my weekly errands on the weekends and I see someone with cameras and a backpack and tripod that it might be one of you. I’m tempted to ask, but observe at a distance. Your photos are inspiring, show reverence. Well...

I think each developer has a different financial tolerance for building ahead with phasing. And they do their cost analysis proformas in a variety of ways. I do recall a 3 phase project that built the whole garage ahead of time and misread a coming recession and a downturn in the market, only to...

I would say so Otis. These may help, taken with an iPad and a 15x spotting scope.

Exactly my thinking, only taking it away for this side since there is a wall there from phase1 and shoring is no longer required and they’ll want the space for the new phase 2 wall. Btw it’s just after 7 and the crews have started working again, bang, bang, bang.

Noticed the progress in the excavation today. But could hardly ignore the jack-hammer pounding all day to demolish the concrete poured with the steel piles. I suppose there are several more days of this. Thankfully it’s winter and my windows are closed. Pics above.

5:30 and they are taking the crane down, and it is snowing. Likely a 7 to 7 shift. These guys have earned their pay today.

AoD, thank you for posting this drawing, confirming the CW1/Yonge St Wharf location. I just showed my wife the series of posts, her first response, “save a piece of the cribbing and use it with a series of photos to capture the harbour history in a display”, for use in the lobby of the new...

Quite likely the foundations uncovered were part of the Geddes Wharf from the early 1900s. Here are a few photos, collected on fb Vintage Toronto page, from archives. The position looks right to me, anyone else have any more detail?

Some photos Jan 8th, cold and crisp but not much snow. Yesterday was mild, even saw 4 kayakers on the harbour. Seems like just a few years (maybe 10 years) ago the bay would freeze over and there would be skaters and ice sailors out. Not this year, not yet. Anyway, pics from today,
