Great new signs for line... line... why don't the signs say line 5 😮

If the eastern portion gets grade-separated I think they would ideally run Eglinton as a separate line at least until it congested enough it needs its own grade separation project, but see no reason why some trains couldn't through run from line 5 to EELRT and vice-versa

hopefully it starts to shoot up when they finish up all the structural work at the bottom🤞 might make a slight impact by the end of summer

according to the TTC's 2020 service report the 54 just a bit over a kilometre longer! They're really damn close! The Steeles, Eglinton east, and Bloor-Danforth night busses still beat both of them though with the 354 just being little behind 😮

The 54 gets to stay as the TTC's longest route for a while longer at least 😌

It wouldn't be that bad if the original construction time was estimated to be 7 (or say 6 because of the pandemic) years. The problem is that the completion date they gave to the public was three years off and counting.

They're not talking about aligned parallel transfers. They're talking about linear transfers, which St George is not an example of.

... a linear transfer doesn't just mean the lines are parallel... it means you're forced to transfer while continuing in the same direction. St George is in no way a linear transfer. Kennedy is. If the Sheppard east lrt was built, don mills would be. sometimes linear transfers are necessary...

Idk how far it would be to the current GO station but the Toronto region board of trade regional rail report proposed a station at Dundurn and King street so Metrolinx may want to look into that as that would connect directly to the e LRT

That's the normal procedure but the TTC has said (and its on their website) that the new rolling stock which are "entering the earliest stages of design" are meant to replace the T-1's and have some of them go onto line 1 to increase capacity, but not replace thee TR's (yet at least). They say...

I'm pretty sure greenwood can't fit TRs and that's why they need to procure new trains for line 2. Otherwise, I feel this could be a pretty good idea. Just saving some room at greenwood to store some subways but leaving all the maintenance and stuff for obico, while using the rest of greenwood...

yea i mean if you count the demolition that just started for the sse we currently have 4 new rail rapid transit projects under construction in the region (may be missing one). It may not be as much as we would like but this is the most transit expansion the city has seen.

There are plenty of very successful metro systems around the world that use lots of different rolling stock. This isn't really a problem in most cases.

It's the opposite in Scarborough for sure. Just poking around on google earth I noticed that the houses on the west side of victoria park always tend to be bigger than those on the east side. Walking around the area you don't notice much but I find it interesting.
