Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Or literally upgrading Line 2. There is $5B of SOGR maintenance (signals, rolling stock, maintenance facility upgrades, ...) ready to go on that line which would improve reliability and increase capacity without even funding fancy additions like platform doors. That said, I have no objection...

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

Scratching my head at this. I thought they gave TransPod, a hyperloop startup, exclusivity over railway from Edmonton to Calgary. They've raised nearly $1B to rollout a piece of test track in the Edmonton region. It's extremely experimental but that contract would make it difficult to build...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Metrolinx can't afford to do that without a substantial budget increase on the order of $2B/year (half capital, half operating) with the current fare-split mechanism. A bus->subway trip would earn TTC full fare and Metrolinx $0 for the subway portion. On the reverse, subway->bus trip, again TTC...

    Toronto 134 Parliament | 156.3m | 46s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

Same for 633 Bay Street. There were typically a dozen people on the roof (~27th floor) during summer evenings, much more on weekends (day and evening).

Or the cost, since the price-tag is inversely related to the delivery date. There's incentive in the contract to deliver quickly.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I presume they went into the tunnel believed to have something, like a weapon, and did not have it when they arrested them. St. George to Woodbine was a very long stretch to close for this.

    Toronto 110 Eglinton East | 236.55m | 58s | Madison Group | Rafael Viñoly

Yes. They've recently completed a purpose-built rental in NY. I'm not aware of any in Toronto. http://www.iconmanhattan.com/

    Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

Bolton to Alliston seems likely at some point (20 year plan?) though just as a GTA land expansion rather than anything to do with the car plant, especially if Innisfill grows steadily. I very much doubt if they would try to connect into Alliston to Allandale via BCRY at any point in the future...

    Toronto 50 Eglinton West | 194.2m | 58s | Madison Group | AUDAX

Fun fact, that size is perfectly doable in a tiny-home. I get to 562sqft not including closets or mechanical. https://www.ontario.ca/document/build-or-buy-tiny-home/building-code-requirements

    Toronto 820 Church Street | 124.1m | 38s | 820 Church GP | Arcadis

Agreed. I think it's too late. It would have been much more interesting 5 years ago before TTC firmed up plans for their fan plant building at 830 Church.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

None? It looks like trains carrying passengers will still using that portion of track, just not stopping at the station. That leads me to believe the tunnel isn't impacted. The notice also says bus service and the station will not be impacted. I guess that leaves the platform. So what work...

    Brampton UPtowns at Heart Lake | ?m | 4s | VANDYK

Some buyers wont be able to close with today's interest rates and others would back out regardless. If they ask for $1k then they might as well ask for $200k as they'll find themselves in a tough place. It seems safest to write-down the loss, trim the budget as much as possible (finishes), and...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Onxpress contract terminates in 2048, making nfitz's question very relevant. That's an 8 year window where we potentially go from a very congested trains on some lines to a new contract, through a flurry of station construction, a rolling stock order (many cars will be well beyond their best...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It's hard to be aggressive at closing the doors without risking a non-trivial injury to some slow moving elderly or disabled person.

    How to solve homeless issue?

Maybe. These microhouse plots aren't much different than what an affordable single-detached sits on in Tokyo. Big difference is in Tokyo they build to the lot-line and 2 to 3 levels tall (ladder, not stairs) to make 600 to 900 sqft. Ontario has hundreds of pre-fab (fits on a truck) mobile home...

    Nuclear Energy and Ontario

Pickering refurbs of reactor 5 through 8 have been approved and funded. This is a timeline for Bruce/Darlington refurbishments. It''s not clear when Pickering will start. https://www.powermag.com/ontario-green-lights-nuclear-refurbishment-of-pickering-candu-units/ I presume this giant...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Hamilton probably would do better with BRTs on 2 to 3 parallel roadways each running 5 minute frequencies. A single LRT is quite a bit cheaper, both to build and operate, than multiple BRT routes of similar combined capacity. Finch had very few alternatives to provide additional capacity seeing...

Indeed. It's not even the first agency in Canada to have requirements like that. UP Express had similar requirements.

78-84 Vaughan Rd (n of St. Clair W, future redevelopment)

That was my point. 95% of Amsterdam architecture isn't particularly unique or inspiring. Amsterdam-inspired, without the highly selective rose glasses, would be a downgrade from what Toronto typically gets.
