FS - Kenmore High Efficiency Washer and Dryer - $600 OBO

I have a 3-year-old high efficiency laundry pair for sale, both units work perfectly and have a year of warranty left. Selling because we got a new set, so we would like to sell these ASAP. They were purchased from Sears in 2008 for $1500. I have all of the original manuals and instructions, and...

    Best Burger

I like the variety at Yellow Griffin but the last couple of burgers I've gotten there have been overdone. Most of their topping combinations just sound like excuses to pile a bunch of disparate stuff on a burger with no mind to the overall taste. Contrast with, say, the Boom burger at Woody's...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Agreed. The Sheppard stub was a mistake to begin with, so the choice we have is do as Ford would and throw good money after bad and continue the subway which would continue to be a drain on the system, or spend money to tear it out which would be seen as a 'downgrade' as you say. Neither one...

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Most of us matured beyond 'my uncle works at Nintendo' arguments in middle school. If you're genuinely interested in convincing people you're not full of it, you should provide some, or any, evidence.

    St Clair West

Another article about how not a disaster St Clair is. http://www.thestar.com/news/transportation/article/1149423--st-clair-right-of-way-a-rite-of-passage-for-a-gentrifying-avenue?bn=1

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

If a casino was five years away, they should've started planning transit links five years ago. You don't build a casino and only then figure out how people will get there.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

The next logical step in the evolution of our city is upgrading our infrastructure, especially transit, to handle things like casinos and aquariums. Our transit system and highways do not currently have the capacity for the volume of people that would be attracted to the casino. Our commute...

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

So NYC is just approving casinos now. Super. That doesn't change your very ridiculous assertion that a city needs blackjack tables and concerts featuring washed-up R&B stars from the 90's in order to be great. What was NYC all this time, some backwater burg, three months out from a thriving...

Movie Theatres in Toronto - Old and New

It's true. Lightbox, especially, has been doing really well with documentaries. Werner Herzog's 'Into The Abyss' had a good run there as well the absolutely riveting Cave of Forgotten Dreams which was one of their most successful runs to date. I'd love to see Bloor do some runs of older docs...

Why does Toronto always dominate the best cities list???

Toronto's still going strong and is well-liked among the industry as both a source of talent, as a shooting location, and we're developing more post-production facilities as well. TIFF and some of the other festivals like After Dark provide the lions share of film premieres here, but with...

Why does Toronto always dominate the best cities list???

Toronto's been featured a little more lately in movies like Scott Pilgrim and Chloe, but I agree I'd like to see Toronto represented better in cinema. Torontoist actually chronicles Toronto's appearances in film (both as a stand-in and not). I don't mean to disparage NYC's film culture by any...

Movie Theatres in Toronto - Old and New

It's definitely a niche product, but it's unique enough that I think it could do well. There's lots of opportunities to do concurrent programs with school groups and for lectures along with the docs like Lightbox often does with their films. One assumes that Hot Docs has done the numbers on...

Why does Toronto always dominate the best cities list???

And barely even that anymore! Guess what city is typically used for a cheaper stand-in for New York in films these days? You guessed it, Toronto! The film industry is exactly the type of business Toronto is and should be attracting. It's sustainable and a great boon to both tourism and revenue.

Why does Toronto always dominate the best cities list???

As a film buff, I would not live anywhere else. We have such a wide variety of opportunities to see/experience film culture here that I don't think enough people appreciate. Venues like the Bloor (now reopened as a documentary-only theatre, one of the only ones of its kind in the world), the...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

While I agree that this could be positioned as a witch hunt, let's not forget that Ford's dalliances with the Integrity Commissioner aren't anything new. Ignore Royson James' editorializing here and look at how long Ford has been KNOWINGLY circumventing or outright ignoring these rules.

    St Clair West

True - there are million+ houses all through that area. And Wychwood is one of the most expensive areas in the whole city. I'm not sure what urbandreamer's smoking but I'd appreciate it if he'd stop bogarting it.

OLG Toronto/GTA casino proposal (where to put it?)

Reality rarely bears that out. I used to commute from 427/Rathburn to King/John daily (and back) and the only way you can get those times is if you're speeding and there's basically no traffic, the latter of which is pretty rare these days.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

It really doesn't. Council could pass a motion saying they're not going to investigate or implicate Ford for murdering his wife, but that doesn't change the illegality of that act. All Council voted on was whether THEY would investigate the matter.

    St Clair West

Don't forget that it's way tougher for a business to survive while closing on Sundays in 2012. The fact that many of these businesses have thrived while being closed for half the weekend continues to amaze me.
