I'm thrilled ! Anything that will keep the theatre open - I'd love to see this project canceled outright ...

When did that change, they still seemed to be open 24 hours last I checked ?

North York City Centre (Yonge & Sheppard)

Not a bad idea, there's already a ton of schools of different types in the area. There's probably ample space in some of the existing office towers that have vacancy.

I'm a little confused, how do you use the garage for cabling and storing equipment if you don't address the waterproofing repair ? :)

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge Commercial | 170.8m | 40s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

I get the sentiment not to build commercial here now and I'm sure that will not happen - but I think it may be short cited to grant exceptions throughout the core - sure it'll be painful to have these projects unfinished with gaps for future commercial - but there's no going back really once...

Project of the year anyone ? :) I'm pretty serious ...

    Toronto M2M Condos | 129.9m | 40s | Aoyuan | Wallman Architects

I don't see that happening - it's all pretty much single family homes. Actually what irks me - there are so many townhome proposals on finch east/west - vs low rise buildings - better than what was there before but still. Contrast that with Sheppard west/east - all mid-rise towers. Side note...

Downtown Decline - Future of Toronto's Downtown Core

It's a great idea on paper but I do not really see it working out ... anyway, 401 Richmond west was already an attempt to do something along those lines ? The areas you're talking about typically develop naturally over time often stimulated by very cheap rent. Moreover, how much would that...

What's happening to 60 Bloor east btw ?

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Only minor gripe atm - it'd be nice if the bands on the podium could be more white vs grey as they are in the render ! Otherwise so far it's pretty close.

    Toronto Maple Leafs

He better ! I suspect: - Shanahan - Keefe - Most on expiring contracts (e.g. bertuzzi, Brodie, liljegren, - I hope we sign Domi if he takes 3.2 or less - I suspect Marner is gone but that'll be a tricky trade - Tavares is hard to say - to get rid of him they'll need to retain - and he may...

Downtown Decline - Future of Toronto's Downtown Core

Ah behind paywall. So in addition to intitual space (though given we are now starting limiting foreign students I wonder if there's really going to be increased demand) I wonder about pharmaceutical research space. But beyond that, of course residential conversion I suspect will pick up a bit...

North York City Centre (Yonge & Sheppard)

Interesting, I noticed they recently put Celestica's sign on the North York City Center Office building (at empress station beside Mel Lastman square) - I think they just have a temporary lease until their new HQ finishes - not sure why they bothered with the sign just now.

    Toronto Portland Commons | 71.7m | 15s | Carttera | Sweeny &Co

I suspect in time it'll get tenants - there will be a flight to quality - and for someone not needing space directly in the core - given this is new/modern space - I don't see issues. While older office building will struggle.

I doubt this is still happening though is it ? This was office space no ?

    Toronto 931 Yonge | 106m | 33s | CreateTO | Zeidler

I love the resident association's logic ... so 1/3rd affordable ownership isn't a sustainable model ... no worries we have the perfect solution for you ... 100% affordable rental ... yes, clearly that is much more sustainable. Killing with kindness indeed.

Ah, thanks a ton for the explanation, that makes a lot more sense now !

I'm a little surprised by the massing of the buildings - it seems like a lot of space ? I thought most of the city offices are consolidated downtown at this point. The public amenities (e.g. swimming pools, day care, library, ...) make sense for sure but does anyone know the square footage...

    Toronto Ontario Place | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON

Really my only issue is the fact we're getting a much smaller science center - with that said, a lot of the science center was open space / greenery / outdoor sections - so purely from an exhibit space perspective it's not clear to me how much different it really is ? Side note, I loved the...
