GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Real bad timing given the closure of DVP & Gardiner for "Ride for Heart" June 3 which shuts down all GO bus service to Union Station.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Joe Cressy's excuse for closing King St for TIFF when I emailed him: Thank you for taking the time to write about TIFF and the King Street Pilot. Councillor Cressy has been a strong advocate for the King Street Pilot, which runs through Ward 20, and has been working hard since the Pilot was...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

John Tory may well lose my vote because of this, and the massive number of subway closures on Line 1 from St Clair to Lawrence planned this year.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

One One of 22 planned closures of the section of Line 1 from St Clair to Lawrence, Sheppard-Yonge or Finch (reduced from 24). And there will be a long list of extremely disruptive road closures for events on many of these weekends including numerous closures of DVP, Gardiner and Lake Shore.

    miWay Transit

Dundas Street West is being closed for filming just east of Kipling Avenue on February 14, 15, 16 from 7pm to 6am next day. This is unrelated to the Six Points construction. Almost all eastbound MiWay buses to Islington and TTC 30 Lambton will be detouring.

Looks like subway closures in 2018 will be even worse than 2017. 24...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

501 Queen is being detoured onto King St for "Hudson's Bay Holiday Window Reveal" this afternoon just before the priority measures take effect. If the TIFF King St closure is allowed next year despite the "priority measures" it is not going to look good for John Tory.

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

The signal retiming on Bloor for the Bloor bike lane has caused a large increase in traffic congestion on north-south roads. I was at Avenue Rd & Bloor St W today and using a stopwatch, I determined that the light was green for 40 seconds on Bloor and 35 seconds on Avenue/Queen's Park at 5pm on...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Probably bad weather. The closure of Highway 7 from Edgeley Blvd to Jane St for construction was also cancelled and postponed to marathon weekend.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Here is a picture I took of the Woodbine bike lanes under construction near a fire station just north of Mortimer. A formerly 4 lane road has been narrowed to 2 lanes.

Some of those locations like Wasaga Beach currently have no GO bus service. Is bus service coming soon?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Anne Marie Aikins insisted on Twitter that it didn't. Perhaps she didn't know what route the train was taking.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I presume that the train detour was via the Barrie Line? Anne Marie Aikins claims it wasn't though.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I can't believe that the city would allow a street festival to detour TTC shuttle buses during a subway closure. Although there are an enormous number of these road closures, this is the first time I remember that TTC subway replacement shuttle buses were detoured due to an event. This was on...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Thinking about the Honda Indy Lake Shore closure that begins tonight. Is there any way that Lake Shore Boulevard could be shifted south a bit around Exhibition Place? A new Lake Shore would be built about 20m south of the current one in the Ontario Place parking lot. Then, the current alignment...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

These closures for events are entirely preventable. All road closures for events should be prohibited on weekends when the subway is shut down for construction, and on weekdays. They should be limited on other weekends.
