    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Maybe to bring the discussion back on topic, any thoughts what highway "infrastructure " might be announced in today's provincial budget? Early reports say infrastructure will be focus of the budget.

Hopefully very short term pain for long term gains!

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

@northern, lol proofreading before posting is obviously not my strong suit, but Metrolinx emails are archived for an eternity Unfortunately the changes are not 15 minute service, but the pleasant surprises involve the Kitchener line, as well as a new bus route many have been hoping for. Public...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I am privileged to an eternal email detailing the April service changes. There are a couple of major changes that UT members have been hoping for in rail and bus coming. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

    LCBO / The Beer Store

Personally after the Beer Store contract ends, I would allow any retail outlet to sell any alcohol products that have 10-12% alcohol by volume or less. Basically most beers, wines and coolers. I would keep the LCBO for spirit sales, and all of the above, but also change policy that retailers...

    General railway discussions

I thought that occurred to me the other day, in the Era of shipping containers, what products are transported in rail box cars now? I watched a train pass by with a number of boxcars as part of the consist.

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

I would think it would be 488 after nearby parallel 88, but MTO numbering logic is beyond me.

    General railway discussions

I often check out Virtual Railfan channel on YouTube that shows many live feeds of railways across America including one in Revelstoke BC. I have noticed on the American railways, many trains with piggybacked UPS, FedEx, Wal-Mart and even Amazon trailers being transported by rail and I have...

Great to know the Brewery that started in my hometown of Port Perry, now has 3 locations, Port Perry, Newmarket and now the Distillery District!

    VIA Rail

I am just curious, are the names attached to departures relevant to VIA anymore? I have not heard references to any names except "The Canadian" and to lessor extent "The Ocean" for years, even close to decades.

    Toronto | Prince George Landing | 15.85m | 3s | Stockworth | SRN Architects Inc.

All I can say to this is the signage advertising this development has been on the property for several years. I have driven past this location many, many times

Love the rock cliff in the background in the render. That definitely says South East Oshawa to me. 😁

    Beyond (Oshawa) | ?m | 18s | Atria | A&Architects

There was a Metro (former A&P) at the Midtown mall just to the west of downtown Oshawa. That space is now empty, as is most of the mall itself except for repurposed offices. I keep waiting for a total redevelopment proposal for all the Midtown Mall lands. As it sits currently, it just screams...

    General railway discussions

In my opinion, the senior staff, who are used to and worked their way up in this type of model have no problem staying with an employer, however newer younger staff are harder to retain as staff under this model.
