Problematic Park Design - Why Some Parks Don't Work

Now that winter is coming, anyone have any reviews on good libraries to take your kids to?

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Yeah, that green paint they use is really slippery.

For a restaurant in the basement of a train station, Amano actually has a fair amount of character and pretty good food. They used to have an octopus and bone marrow pasta that was absolutely delicious. Sadly they've taken it off the menu. I regularly pester them to add it back, but they refuse...

He was a bit too little last year, but the Aitken Place hills might be ideal for sledding this year.

Would love to hear your thoughts on Sherbourne common/Aiken Place/Sugar Beach in the winter. It does have the skating rink, and we actually go there fairly often in the winter because it’s one of the few places in the city that you’re guaranteed sun sun sun, no matter how low in the sky the sun is.

Problematic Park Design - Why Some Parks Don't Work

We took the kid up to June Rowlands once because we’ve read about how great it was, but the toddler review was not great. He didn’t take to it at all.

I spent about 10 years looking into one of Toronto's ugliest buildings, not much more than 10 metres away from my balcony. After about 3 weeks you don't even notice any more.

Big missed opportunity here to talk about the challenges of coordinating construction with existing utilities, as one of the photos shows the work going on to fix the fibre optic cables that they seemingly sunk a soldier pile (I just learned this term last week) straight through...

Three of the ones below Chester are going to be getting pretty significant intensification, so I'd expect Chester to drop down to the bottom of the list eventually. Even Bessarion will eventually pass it.

I'm a reflexive Liberal supporter, but he's the worst. Everything he says either has some direct partisan angle, or is aimed at protecting property values for SFH owners in the Annex and Little Italy (or similar). He constantly claims to care about housing, but wants most of near-downtown...

This one is not on an "avenue" so not likely to be redeveloped. And of course, you couldn't turn anything nearby into anything like it either now.

I'm no expert in this area, but it seems very unlikely that Simons has bought billboards here merely to advertise to passersby.

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

Boxcar Social in Leslieville is an example of this type of thing working well. It's mostly cafe, with a nice patio, but they have a good beer and wine selection and small set of takeaway foods (pizzas, empanadas, etc.).

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

I liked it, but never really spent a lot of money there. I just went for their super cheap coffee and the occasional donut. I did buy one or two things off of the shelves, but they were carrying a lot of inventory that I don't think was selling very quickly. Some of the frozen pizzas and...

The shoring machines are gone and digging has started. I think they actually started on Friday.

And if you reduce the number of cars with one person, you enable trucks packed with stuff that hundreds of people need to get around more efficiently.

There must be only a week or two left at most, though? They've clearly poured the top floor on both towers and just need to finish up a few things.

I think the structure of the north towers might be almost complete. I count 29 storeys now.
