I don't mind the type of cladding they're using (cause I don't have to live there).... ...but why that color? Looks awful.

    GO Transit Electrification (Metrolinx, Proposed)

Definitely disappointing but don't think it dampers my excitement too much.

I really would not call the Yonge line "underbuilt"

With this attitude, much of old toronto would be covered with expressways. Public consultation (and even just the planning in general) is practically pennies compared to the cost of construction. Cutting it would not save anything meaningful except time. Yes, we should value the experts...

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

Pretty confident whoever proposed a loop for the Ontario line secretly posts on UT. Personally I'll never understand the desire for a loop line in Toronto.

Well, REM re-uses a significant portion of track from the Duex-Montagnes commuter line. It they had to dig it all new it would have been more. Questionable math/examples aside, I agree with your point overall. We pay more and get less, and I'm not sure the government or MX has ever taken a...

    Toronto | Hurontario-Main LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Honorific line names are fine during planning and construction but should be named after the corridors they follow once construction is complete. They're doing this backwards.

    Toronto | GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I live right next to the Gardiner and GO line. The highway is basically imperceptible when inside, but it does make our balcony kind of pointless. The trains we hear, but it's honestly a non-issue, and frankly I like seeing them go by. Maybe a building built along the Barrie GO line doesn't...

This will be a fun post to come back to once the LRT is open.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

This was hilarious. They didn't even try to be subtle about it.

How on earth as an at-grade station on a brownfield site $500 million dollars?!

    Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Do we know if the stairs from concourse level will be redone to reflect the updated platform configuration? Or will they be left and this new project designed around them? Edit: looks like stairs will be modified, at least in some areas. Should have read the blog more fully. It's an exciting...

Toronto | Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design) | ?m | ?s

At first my response to this was going to be somewhat incredulous, as that's a long time, and things move along faster than they used to. Then I realized I was only considering planning and not construction. I'll cross my fingers for a decade and a half. =) You're missing my point, but maybe I...

Terminating at Exhibition has always been a very questionable decision to me. Realistically, I think a "Liberty Village" station was only ever going to be located on the edge of Liberty Village. But, they picked the wrong edge. Located at the very south of the neighbourhood, the station feels...

Cross posting: Looks like they blew up their not to scale future transit map and overlaid it on a very much to scale 3D rendering of the city. Which is pretty funny. Wouldn't read too much into it. Cool idea for a graphic but done poorly. Viva rapidway and 407 transitway.

TTC: Yonge North Subway Extension (Finch-Richmond Hill) (Funded/Planned)

Hmm. This is good news. I kind of figured this might happen, and it *might* still happen with Cummer too. The fact that Metrolinx was still presenting maps with those two listed as potential stations made me think they had not completely given up on building them. Cummer is close enough to...

Excited to see this one take shape. I wasn't sure if they'd spare the mall (like the promenade) or not. Glad to see that they won't be. I used to go there all the time as a kid. Bit weird to see it go, but it's the perfect spot for more density.

Wow, I used to go to Centerpoint all the time as a kid. I would get my hair cut there. Bit of a weird feeling to think of it going away. BUT ALSO: Good riddance! I wish they had gotten rid of the entire Promenade too, rather than just the Sears.
