    Ikea

It seems like what we're getting here is a hybrid of the main cafeteria, the downstairs cafe, and the food store that's usually next to the cafe. Should be interesting to see how it works. I kinda wish they'd taken over the third floor of the podium as well so we could have had a full-size...

Toronto: where architecture comes to die.

I'd argue Theory looks better 😬

    180 Dundas Street West

    Still better than 401 Bay.

    Toronto | W Hotel Toronto | ?m | 9s | Larco | a—A

There's currently a large metallic box with writing on it announcing the upcoming hotel on it in exactly that spot. So chances are the W sign will either replace that, or is inside the silver box itself.

    Toronto | 307 Lake Shore East | 160.18m | 49s | Plaza Partners | BDP Quadrangle

Looking at this render, they seem to show the massing of a midrise in front of the tower, filling out space left behind by the Queens Quay realignment. Who knows if it will happen though.

    GO Transit Electrification (Metrolinx, Proposed)

Yeah, and given GO's plans for level boarding, that's the part the rest of the platform will be raised up to whenever they get around to upgrading the passenger cars for level boarding. IMO, it's far more likely UPX is abolished than we see a dedicated electrified UPX service between the...

    Toronto | 307 Lake Shore East | 160.18m | 49s | Plaza Partners | BDP Quadrangle

I see these renders, I think "THIS IS STUNNING". And then I look out my living room window and see Plaza's 50 Wellesley (which contains the Plaza sales centre lol) and have zero hope this will look like anything but utter trash.

    Toronto | 55 Yonge | 236.21m | 66s | H&R REIT | PARTISANS

"We want a subway connection but also 300 residential parking spaces!" This is comically stupid by city staff. It isn't transit-oriented development if you encourage lots of people living there to drive a car. I really hope they drop that stupid demand.

    Toronto | T3 Bayside | 42m | 10s | Hines | 3XN

Given how this colour seems to vary so much between pictures/real life, and in different lighting conditions, I feel like we're gonna get a lot of "OH NO IT''S GREY" posts when they put up the cladding on The One, given it's supposed to be a similar colour.

    Toronto | 90 Isabella | ?m | 69s | Capital Developments | Diamond Schmitt

I'd say this is comically tall, but that's just what happens when council refuses to let anything more than a single-family home go up in almost anywhere else in the city. I just hope there are enough elevators for the amount of people living in this tower (but I doubt it, as that costs money...

    GO Transit Electrification (Metrolinx, Proposed)

In the mid-to-long term, both of those stations are probably going away anyway. Pearson wants its transit hub, which would functionally replace the current UPX station, and Metrolinx has previously spoken moving UPX directly into Union, or replacing UPX with some sort of GO service.

    Toronto | T3 Bayside | 42m | 10s | Hines | 3XN

It's definitely more of a champagne colour in real life.

    Toronto | 351 Lake Shore East | 151m | 49s | Great Gulf | SHL Architects

Yep, that's an a-A ground floor design, that's for sure. Does someone there get off on creating terrible pedestrian experiences?

    Toronto | 1087 Yonge | 66.4m | 19s | Zinc Developments | a—A

The unit layouts are horrendous. Like, can you even fit a queen bed in some of those 1BD units? Also agreed with @TorMick, i wish this wasn't so aggressively grey. I love the massing, but I really wish they used something warmer in terms of materials, at least at street level. But I am thankful...

650 Bay St Boutique Hotel Redevelopment (Lanterra, ?s, ?)

I hope it's not the full L. That would be such a monolithic project. Which means it'll probably happen cus we love nothing more in this city than overly monolithic condo podiums.

Toronto | Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design) | ?m | ?s

I do kind of understand they don't want to commit to "yes we will make it better" if it turns out to be an engineering nightmare to actually do so. But I do agree that what has been proposed is far from ideal and any reasonable opportunity to do better should be taken. Also the stations are not...

    Toronto | Social at Church + Dundas | 164.89m | 52s | Pemberton | RAW Design

I noticed today that the balconies look entirely clear from Yonge-Dundas Square, which is... not great. None of the pattern appears, just ugly spandrel. 252 Church can't come soon enough to block the view of this thing.

    730 Yonge Street (University of Toronto, ?s, ?}

Doesn't everyone just casually spend millions of dollars to replace functional if ugly buildings? /s

    Design Haus | 52.12m | 19s | Shiu Pong | Kirkor Architects COMPLETE

Finally, a building so bad literally no one wants to be a retail tenant there. Not even a weed store.
