    I think most motors are electrical but the power sources can differ. In M city in Mississauga, some cranes are powered by sources/transformers attached to the grid while others are connected to diesel powered generators (on the ground.)

    I think, depending on the type of crane, sometimes they have to attach the cabin to other parts on the ground first before hoisting it on top of the vertical leg. The same with the horizontal arm, it comes in pieces and it gets assembled on the ground first.
