Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

Are those there to support a bridge that will exit into the No Frills parking lot area? I thought that had been cut.
The bridge could not be "cut" without canceling the whole project -- it's the only way to connect to the existing railpath, which ends at the junction of the Kitchener and Barrie GO lines. The only way to continue is to bridge over the Barrie GO.
You may be thinking of a connection over the Kitchener line to Sorauren Park -- that's been mentioned as a future possibility.

Yes, I was thinking of the Sorauren Park connection. I think that has been cut

The design of the bridge over the Barrie Line to No Frills was future proofed to some day connect to Sorauren. There has never been any budget for this connection and Metrolinx and The City have been apoplectic about suggesting in any way that they might pay for it. Its been hard to get community and political interest on the West side partially because things like the new community centre have used up a lot of peoples time. As soon as people on the west side see the completed east side RP they will start wanting a connection the next day and then there will be some action. Its so obvious.

Excited to see what looks like a bridge pier and related equipment, when all coms have been about routine soil work.

I asked the guy on site and he said it would be a bridge to the park. Crazy there has been no clarification or announcement. It’s a very big deal.

have two theories, and welcome feedback:
  1. The rest of the network is still blocked, so bridge will temporarily lead to nowhere.
  2. Announcement pushed closer to election
Been waiting my whole life, and lately have been getting very very old.

Here is a design picture that shows how the ramp is future proofed for a Sorauren connection. The resolution is low but the section to Sorauren is clearly labelled as "potential". The worker saying the connection is to a park may be referring to the large triangle in between the Georgetown and Barrie Lines which is intended to be a park/meeting place/ entrance to RP extension south of overpass. There are no designs for a future connection to Sorauren.
