Yes - but PSA:Usually developers have lazy design initiatives for areas like Lansdowne & Dupont where they know they can get away with it. But this is in the Distillery District and fairly visible from several vantage points and Lanterra still chose to cheapen TF out with the execution.
Cheapening out doesn't always equate to less expensive to build at the end of the day...Yes - but PSA:
Warm Grey Spandrel is not cheaper than other colours of spandrel!
Also Capless curtainwall is more expensive than Capped Mullion Curtain Wall (could have matched the window wall to the left)
Extra half-height mullion across the window wall is an extra cost
Intersection of curtain wall and window wall on the same plane is an odd detail that (maybe?/probably) has additional costs.
You could easily SAVE money here by foregoing the curtainwall entirely, make it WW all across and use a Black or Similar spandrel - and it would look better!
...it's like those tales of yore of seeing gold shining from a distant hill in the wee hours of the morning, only to find when getting close to the source it's just windows reflecting a rising sun to their disappointment. >.<The details on this one truly suck up close but I actually don't mind it from a distance (which is where I'll view it from 99% of the time). A relatively clean & distinct shape, a clear expression evoking floating squares, warm earth tones that reflect the neighbourhood around it, integrated balconies that don't muddle the building's profile. At least it adds some kind of personality to the tower cluster in that area.
The opposite of Cherry House, IMO!This is one of those buildings that only works from far away. It doesn’t look like another glass box, adds a bit of warmth which is all good, but don’t you dare to get close to it… lowest quality materials, messiest spandrel, horrific.
