President Donald Trump's United States of America

If the Dems can stick to affordability and accountability while staying away from progressive and identity issues they may flip the Senate.

Dem leadership (Jeffries and Schumer) have been focusing almost entirely on affordability and it's not working for them. Trust in the democrats keeps sinking. The only reason people are voting for them in by-elections is because they're either *not* republicans, or they're the new progressives fighting to gain hold over the status quos in the party.

Only 37% of all US voters have a positive view of the Democratic Party. Worse yet, 31% with independents:

Things were already unaffordable for many under Biden, so for those to whom affordability would resonate the strongest, the Democrats lost their goodwill a long, long time ago.

As long as Schumer and Jeffries continue to cling to arguments about procedure and take AIPAC money—and only choose to support and promote the like—they will hobble the party.

Americans overwhelmingly want this clown show out of office, but carry the despair of knowing they can't count on the Democrats to do so.

It’s too bad, since progressive issues such as healthcare for all, homeless reduction, etc. should appeal to rural Americans as much as urban, but that’s the contradiction Dems must thread to win the Senate.

US individualism long ago took control of the rural areas. They don't care they don't have healthcare or stable housing as long as some perceived lesser doesn't also have it.

Speaking of individualism, at the rate things are going, Trump might lose the gas guzzling pickup truck driving crowd.

Let's not get crazy, they're not going to vote for a Democrat but they might become disillusioned with the political process and just skip voting entirely.

Trump already TACO'd out of threats to Iran's energy infrastructure. The United States is about to lose yet another war to a "lesser" adversary because of their over confidence and because Iran understood completely how pushing Trump's pain points in political popularity with his base would get them what they wanted. The IRGC is now in full control of Iran with the civilian arm and presidency weakened to irrelevance, they've gained billions of dollars from frozen oil revenue and they know how to bully the region into staying away from further attacks. They could build a nuclear weapon now because nobody will dare attack them again. We knew Trump was incompetent and was going to f*ck things up, but this takes the cake. This mistake will outlive him by decades.

I am given to understand that a Brigade command unit has been ordered deployed to the Middle East.

Trump's softening could be him thinking he's being clever and "surprising" Iran. He's played this game before, nobody trusts the United States, nobody mistakes Trump for having any integrity in negotiations. Given Trump's priorities and frankly childish predictable nature, he's going to go after the oil on Kharg's Island. Eye for an eye, Iran's economy on Kharg's Island for the world economy at Strait of Hormuz. There'll be a US military presence on Kharg by this time next week. Dozens (or hundreds!) of American soldiers killed in the fight for the island. Iran is not going to give it up easily.

What do you know, the speculation from as early as a week into the conflict about the 82nd Airborne turned out to be true:
WaPo with a speculative piece on the potential of proverbial boots on the ground in Iran

All this buzz about winding down the war effort, "negotiations", TACO — it's all just background noise. The tag-team of Kushner and Witkoff has yet to negotiate their way out of an awkward handshake, let alone achieve any actual lasting peace deals.

Here is where the two sides stand on their negotiation starting positions right now.

USA/Israel:
- Iran is to abandon its missile program for 10 years
- Iran is to forfeit its highly enriched uranium
- US is to control all enrichment centrifuges going forward
- Iran is to abandon its drone production
- Iran is to abolish its navy

Iran:
- Iran is to receive full reparations for damage caused by the bombing campaign
- Iran is to receive security guarantees US/Israel will never attack again
- US is to withdraw from all its military bases in the Middle East
- UN is to lift all economic sanctions placed on Iran

I mean, those starting positions are a non-starter for any negotiations. So the bombing goes on for now. The straight remains closed for now. The boots hit the ground soon enough.

Look like they're pretty close to a deal. The strongest deal. The most powerful deal. Frankly, people are saying it's the best deal ever made.

Ummm, I think there may have been another reason for Monday's load of something......

There are some helpful visuals about this insider trading in my post in the Middle East thread:
We have the exact answer to this question - $100M

The activity circled in the charts below show suspicious spikes in trading. When trading volumes were low and prices were flat, there were sudden 6200 trades worth $1.5B to $2B shorting oil futures just 15 minutes before the Trump announcement. Given the resulting price drop, those shorts made $100M in 20 minutes.

Didn't you hear? It's all Joe Biden's fault!

#VoteMAGA #BlameBiden #Don'tLookUp

Do Nothin’ Sleepy Joe is so incompetent that he can manipulate world markets over a year after he’s left, overriding the Trump White House, and the Senate and House Republican majorities.

From his basement, no less. Damn, that old man should run for President or something.

The state house district that the President legally lives in and lived in prior to his presidency, and is where the President's Mar A Lago estate is located, HD87 in Palm Beach Florida, has flipped to the Democrats in a special election held today. This means the President is now represented by Democrats at all levels of government. The district was won by Trump by 11 points in 2024. Democrats also won 2 other Trump won districts in Florida. Ironically he voted by mail even though MAGA has been saying that's bad 🤣🤣

In Florida, voters with felony convictions must complete their sentences, including probation, parole, and payment of all court-ordered fines, costs, and restitution. People convicted of murder or a felony sexual offense are not covered under the amendment.

Donald Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records, making him the first former U.S. president to be convicted of a felony. Despite this conviction, he faces no jail time or penalties due to an unconditional discharge granted by the judge.

Did Donald Trump vote illegally? I'm not a lawyer.
