...I can't understand why they didn't make that podium part all black save the window bits. Because it's needlessly distracting (and looks like crap), otherwise to what has mostly been a stellar development, IMO.
Agreed. Out of all the places to cheap out they chose the podium where they could have built off of the great heritage as a starting point. The tower looks pretty sharp, but that spandrel at the ground realm ruins it.

What on God's green earth is this??
Did the developers really cheap out on restoring the facade of this building by only integrated *part* of it into the new building? This looks like a movie set, and I'm astonished they didn't think to you know, maybe extend the podium and incorporate the rest of this facade into something more useful?
This looks very po-mo...like an artwork suggesting to us, how do we think beyond the facadomectomy? Well...certainly by not doing this. This is just a wasted space.

Okay, I paid my respects to the great pooping bear.

Damn. I really like the curvy building.

It's kinda cool.

Look at that curvature.

It's too bad about the botched podiums, because the space between the buildings feels great. Someday the trees will help cover it up.

That is some fine undulation.

Errrr ... I agree with those who said that the heritage portion should have been worked into the podiums.

This is stupid. It's a bookend. It's fine, I guess.
