Well they are trying to but are struggling to sell $200 tickets in the expanded areasTFC will used the entire stadium with their game against Miami on May 9
Where do New England and New York/New Jersey fit into that list? Both are artificial turf, open air stadiums in the northeast. The latter is hosting the final.Of the 30 main NFL stadiums all but 8 are natural grass. And of those 8, 1 is a fixed dome (New Orleans), 2 are translucent domes (Minneapolis, and LA), 3 are retractable roofs (Dallas, Indianapolis and Houston) who's locations make growing grass difficult, and 2 are open air (Nashville, and Cincinnati) of which one (Cincinnati) would have difficulty growing grass and the other (Nashville) is soon to be replaced though the new stadium will have a translucent dome and thus still have artificial turf. Of the 8 only Dallas, Houston, and LA wound up being awarded games (and rightfully so)
Ouf. I stand corrected, there are another 8 stadiums with FieldTurf or a hybrid system installed. My Wiki Fu has failed me. That being said the wiki page for MetLife Stadium indicates that real grass will be installed for the World Cup Tournament per FIFA regulations/demands.Where do New England and New York/New Jersey fit into that list? I think that was only for single games? (And in the summer. It didn't work so well -- "chunk of turf the size of a large pizza box" -- in November 2013, the last time it was done.)... It's not that difficult to truck in some turf for a 4 week tournament, it's been done at the Rogers Centre in the past.
There were multiple complaints about the quality of the real turf that was brought in for the games in the Copa America in 2024.
Copa America was a general shitshow but that's par for the course with conmebol. Look up how![]()
‘A plague of liars’: what caused the disastrous pitches at Copa América?
The surface at many venues for this summer’s tournament caused concern among players and coaches. Will lessons be learned for the 2026 World Cup?www.theguardian.com
From the game todayWatching TFC on TV and it looks like all the temp seats have now been built
Right on the field level in front of the lower stands?I believe it's private boxes for sponsors and dignitaries.
Could that be some kind of premium seating yet to be installed?Right on the field level in front of the lower stands?
Accessible seating will go in there, since a percentage of the overall seating capacity has to be accessible according to Ontario law.Wonder why they left such a large gap between the lower north end stand and the pitch.
