News from the Middle East

So the top counter-terror official and a senior intelligence official both resign at a time when IRGC and other bad actors are especially likely to want to attack American civilians... you can disagree with Trump's actions, but screwing over the safety of the general population like that??

They made it quite clear they were leaving because there was no safety concern.

Trump considering 'winding down' Iran war and leaving other countries to 'police' strait of Hormuz

Donald Trump has said the US is “getting very close to meeting our objectives” and is considering “winding down” its war on Iran .

He repeated his claim that the US doesn’t use the strait of Hormuz, and so other nations who do will have to “guard and police” it. This is after US-Israeli attacks on Iran prompted Tehran to target vessels in one the world’s most vital shipping lanes.

The US will help “if asked” but that “shouldn’t be necessary”, he said in a post on Truth Social, saying it would be “an easy Military Operation” for those countries.

"We are getting very close to meeting our objectives as we consider winding down our great Military efforts in the Middle East with respect to the Terrorist Regime of Iran.
The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not! If asked, we will help these Countries in their Hormuz efforts, but it shouldn’t be necessary once Iran’s threat is eradicated. Importantly, it will be an easy Military Operation for them."

Of course he capitulated. No one believed that threat for a second. Thing is, Trump can't TACO out of this war. He's going to be forced to eat crow by Iran.
As long as his pals do ok. I’d like to know who and how much Trump’s pals made on short selling oil stocks. You can just imagine those nudges and winks, hinting that Trump’s going to provoke a sudden drop in prices.

TACO until Friday, when markets close. Then war crimes on Friday. Trump always does shitty things on Friday nights.

A reminder: bombing civilian energy infrastructure is a war crime. But Trump just wants to impress his favorite pal Putin by doing the same war crimes as Russia, just doing them harder, faster and bigger.

We have the exact answer to this question - $100M

The activity circled in the charts below show suspicious spikes in trading. When trading volumes were low and prices were flat, there were sudden 6200 trades worth $1.5B to $2B shorting oil futures just 15 minutes before the Trump announcement. Given the resulting price drop, those shorts made $100M in 20 minutes.
